About Rush...

I know it's a month and a half away, but I thought I'd go ahead and ask a few questions.

As most of you know, I will be going through Rush in the fall at LSU. I'm getting pretty excited about it, as I believe this will bring my college experience to a whole new level.

I was wondering what kind of questions should I ask when going through rush? I don't want to ask the same continuous bullshit like "What year are you?" "Why should I choose your org?" etc. I was hoping to come up with a new list of questions to ask the guys who are rushing me to make myself stand out a little more.

On that same note, what are some common mistakes that PNM's often make during rush? I know that at LSU, a SURE way to get ignored for virtually every fraternity on campus is to wear flip-flops or cargo shorts during rush. Are there any other things that bother ya'll when meeting PNM's?

Any other advice or stories to add would be great, I bet ya'll have some good ones!

Thanks alot guys...talk to you soon

So you want to join the Lambda Chi's at LSU? Good deal. I don't have much to say on the subject of rush other than to try and have a good time. Don't go out of your way to try and impress people. They see right through it. Other than that, just have fun and things will work out.

you really shouldn't worry so much about rush at LSU. for the guys it's usually pretty casual. if you already know some guys in fraternities on campus, get in touch with them and let them know you're interested. most of the groups will be having some kind of summer party to meet potential members. have you already signed up with greek affairs? in this years greek tiger they have pictures of what guys should wear to different rounds of rush - and trust me, it looks mostly very casual/comfortable. be sure not just to have one favorite while going into the process - there are a lot of cools guys and you'd probably fit in with more than one of the groups. just have fun during the week and be yourself.

Sorry for invading the thread but I just wanted to wish tigah the best of luck with rush this fall. Moxie gave you some great advice. Just be yourself, make sure you look presentable at all rush parties (some are more casual than others), and remember to keep an open mind. My boyfriend is a LXA (not at LSU) so I think LXA is a great fraternity but then again most of the fraternities at LSU are top notch. Good luck in the fall and GEAUX TIGERS!!!

Ask questions that you feel like asking. But ask specific questions, maybe pertaining to life as an Associate Member, about their house, dues...

Ask questions so you can learn what they are about and they can see you are interested.

As Recruitment Chair it is a huge plus to have prospects take the first step andd approach myself or one of my brothers and ask questions(even tho it is our responsibility to approach them), but it is very easy to see through the BS..
Good Luck, be yourself!

Thumbs up

Chris, some great advice! Welcome to G C as first time I have seen you here!

Have been working with This Young Man lsutigah and have gotten him lined up to be contacted.

After talking and IM with him I have only one wish, that they fit hand in glove with each other.

I know, I would love to call him My Brother!

No, He did not go anything.

I have a lot more insight with Him, but I will not divulge other than that as We do keep in touch.

It was a shame! Past History.

I am sure He would be glad that some asked about Him.

Honestly this guy seemed like a wierd one to me. If I was at LSU, instead of writing journals to a bunch of strangers online, I would have been partying/ hanging out. Maybe if he would have done more of that he would have gotten a bid.

I thought his posts on here were corny personally.

Lightbulb

Lot more that I can say on that, but again I wont. Actually just got off with Him!

He was very insecure and after spending time with him it went way back to home town.

Weird, no I dont think so. Just wanted what We Have and that is what He was pointing to and I understood it.

Just remember, what past History from someone who says something about some one doesnt mean S**T!

Lets let this go on and die as He is doing the same thing.

No one was more upset and close to this young man than me and still am.
