My son asked for the N Sync CD. I was not really feeling them but now I can't get enough of #5 on the No STrings ATtached CD. Makes Me Ill, I think is the song. ANyways, they are okay. I only wish there were some young Black groups out now that our kids could relate to, be proud of and grow to love.

Remember, like New Edition.

Those groups are PUMPED UP on Nickelodeon ALL DAY LONG. SO the youth get to like them and WANT to listen to their music. Prob. is, the groups are all white.

No was is Lil Bow Wow gonna be showcased on that station, all though most of his stuff is relatively CLEAN. However, he is still talking about bling blingin' and I really don't want my son to listen to that.

It's tough.

I know I took this on another level, so I will go.

Did y'all know that the guy who chorographed that dance number that they do for the song Bye Bye Bye is by the guy who plays Lem on the Showtime series Soul Food.

I like N'Sync too.

hello everyone...

ALMOST 90% OR MORE OF THOSE "BLACK" FACE GROUPS (AS COMEDIAN PAUL MOODY PUTS IT...) ARE CHOREOGRAPHED BY BLACKS. Even the music, nine times out of 10 is produced by blacks...

Like someone else said, where are the black groups like New Edition and The Boys (Dial My Heart, whew! where are THEY NOW?) for the NEW MILLENNIUMNUM? lol

I don't know if anyone knew this, but Full Force (remember them? Their "phrase" was "FULL FORCE GET BUSY ONE TIME!" ) have produced songs for Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys and (my fav boy band)*NSYNC. It is true that African-American influence is all over the pop music these days. Look at the group Dream (the ones that Puffy put on his label)-is that African-American influence in the pop culture or what? To my knowledge, he has produced all of the tracks on their CD.

And yes-I lube (love) New Edition. "Candy Girl" and "Popcorn Love" were my jams!!

I HEAR YOU DELTABRAT!!! That's what I try to explain to my friends when they ask me why I like them. There are no black groups out there doing what they do and I just don't relate to rap. Kandi Buruss from Xscape wrote It Makes Me ILL on their album.
Yeah a lot of the people behind them are black, like their manager Johnny Wright and the guy who choreographed the Bye Bye Bye video.
I also think Justin Timberlake is the FOINEST white boy alive!!

Red face

It has been brought up how there are no black mega groups anymore i.e New Edition. One reason for that is while white groups throw sexuality out there as a part of there whole act, black groups these days seem to build there whole image around sex. Except for 112, although they did go there on "Anywhere". New Edition wasn't Jodeci but they also wasn't so cookie cutter. As they got older they addressed more adult issue. Still they did this with class and maturity. Why is it that all music nowadays is so sexual? I think this is partly due to the merger of hip hop and r&b. I still listen to it, but I'm so sick of all the time hearing about no good men, gold diggin hoochies, and going to the club friday night drinking cristal while wearing Gucci, Prada, or whatever. I was like fine, it's okay if Biggie Smalls (May he RIP) talks about that kind of stuff. But when it started making it's way into r&b, "It made me Ill" (pun intended). So that's why I don't think we have a lot of more popular mainstream acts. Oh and another thing to think about, a lot of blacks complain about whites who dance like us (What does that mean?) or work with black producer. And I've also heard us complain about the white formula: 5 white guys from Orlando,FL=Success. Well think about all this influx of black male groups. They are just as formulated as Nsync or the BackStreet Boys. Some white guy or brothers also (we now are owning are own record companies) are telling us how to dress and what kind of songs to sing. I'm so sick of that. That's why I've totally dissed that whole genre and now "Who is Jill Scott", and "Mama's Gun" get heavy rotation in my Cd player. Sorry for the long post.
