Man, those anti-Bush types sure are classy....

Quote:
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Dozens of demonstrators heckled and jeered Broadway theatergoers on Sunday, seeking confrontations with Republican delegates who arrived in New York City to back President Bush (news - web sites)'s reelection bid.
Police arrested up to 60 protesters who assembled in Times Square at dusk chanting anti-Bush slogans after hundreds of thousands had marched in Manhattan to decry the president's policies before the Republican convention begins on Monday.
But individual protesters kept tensions high, some of them hissing or cursing at well-heeled couples heading to popular Broadway musicals like "Thoroughly Modern Millie" and "Fiddler on the Roof."
"Republican murderers go home and kill your babies!" one young man yelled at theatergoers, a far cry from local public service messages urging New Yorkers to "make nice" to party delegates in the city for the four-day convention, where Bush will be nominated for another four-year term.
A second protester shoved a middle-aged woman in a black cocktail dress, shouting:
"Bitch, go home! We don't want you here!" At one point, police cordoned off a city block after several dozen demonstrators jeered and razzed the incoming audience.
"We were talking to delegates as they came by. We were very calm," said Brendan, 23, an organic farmer from upstate New York, adding he was thumbing his nose at the crowd with other hecklers before police intervened. "You do anything a little out of the ordinary here and they arrest you."
Protest actions in front of New York theaters were some of the few taking place outside permitted demonstration areas.
The wild card in protests expected later this week is whether self-styled anarchists try to wreak havoc in the city with unannounced actions despite unprecedented security.

"Republican murderers go home and kill your babies!"
methinks someone needs to be reminded which party is the one that publicly supports the murder of babies.
You know, every time i start to waver in my support of W, lunatics like these give me more resolve to vote for him. For the added bonus of pissing in their cheerios for four more years.

You took the words right out of my mouth! I was thinking that while reading the article... sounds like someone's a little confused.

Wow. That's all I can say. Wow.
This is a sincere question because I honestly don't know the answer, but were there in-your-face Republican protesters at the Dem convention in Boston and they just didn't get the press that these protesters are getting?

There were protesters saying things just as mean at the Dem Convention, they just didn't get the press. These extremists on both sides make their own sides look bad. I really wish there was some way to do politics without the hostility.

Many of these protesters are neither Democrats nor New Yorkers.
I haven't even noticed that the Republican National Convention is going on. I rarely go near Madison Square Garden so maybe that's why. The news said stay away from West 23rd Street to West 42nd Street. I have and will for the rest of the week.

How about you put it like this? Many of these protestors are not being organized by the DNC.

I saw a few anti-war protesters in Boston, quite a few actually. Got chewed out by one when I said I would probably be voting Bush.

I think it's safe to say that many of the protesters aren't Democrats or New Yorkers. I think you could also be safe in saying that in Boston many of the protesters weren't Republicans or Bostonians.
Many of the things being protested cross party lines.
Here's the deal though -- NBC World Headquarters is a 30 Rockefeller Plaza, Fox on Avenue of the Americas, ABC on 66th (I think), and CBS on 57th. All of those are in Manhattan.
Gee, why do you suppose there are more protesters in NY than in Boston? Or, are more people mad at the GOP?

A nice slice of CNN's operations are in Manhattan too. This is the media capital of the World. If you want attention, this is the best place to get it.

No, most conservatives don't protest: they have to go to work...
