(some GC members knew about my impending rush)

many of you know my story from the past. and you also know my heart and drive. here is what you don't know...

I attended University of North Florida. while i was there i went through many rough times. i did pursue greek life a few times, but it just was not for me at the time. i know that i did get cut. but i know i did cause my heart was not in the right place. i would not have been a good member.
because of other things (having NOTHING to do with greek life) UNF became a rough place for me to be. i was also reminded of the bad things that i went through. i could never rise above it. i needed a change.

so i made one. i no longer attend UNF. i am now a student at Jacksonville University. it is truly one of the best decisions that i have ever made. i am so happy. i knew that i had to look into the sororities here. so i signed up and here i am. rush began on the 9th. i have made it very far, so i want to share my story with you guys. i have lost many battles, but i know that i will win the war!!

the sororities at JU are:

Alpha Delta Pi
Delta Delta Delta
Gamma Phi Beta
Alpha Epsilon Phi

sept 9: Open House
sept 10: Philanthropy Night
sept 11: Prefs
sept 12: Bid Day

hey!! rush went very well so far. i love all of the groups.

i went to Limp Bizkit first-
i love their hall and their chapter room is so beautiful. the girls are awesome and i had such a great time there. i felt really at home and was connecting well with the sisters. they loved the questions that i asked. i was just really happy there. they seem to really love each other.

next was Blink 182-
great groups of girls. extremely diverse. i had a really good time with them. i talked to so many girls and one of them loved how insightful my questions were. another girl said that she wanted to talk to me more, but we were running out of time and she wanted to introduce me to more sisters. i had a lot of fun here and could see myself here too.

Five-
i really really liked these girls. so beautiful and intelligent. there is one sister here that i did not know was going to JU. we worked together at Chick Fil A in 2001 when she was still in high school. so i was incredibly shocked to see her. we were so happy to see each other. i talk to other sisters too. very sweet girls and would be very happy to hear that they are interested in me.

Backstreet Boys-
i like these girls a lot. they are much smaller than the other groups, but i do not see that as a bad thing. they are very close. i talked to one girl who realized that she went to high school with me. and she graduated with my sister. so we had a good time talking.

next is phil. night and we go to all of the houses. i will post the details later today along with some more details!

I know I followed your rushing last year when I was going to rush at BG (bgsarah). I know this will be a bookmarked thread. =)

philanthropy night-

Limp Bizkit-
i really liked being with these girls. our craft was so cute and really fun. the video we watched started a flood of tears. i liked watching all of the sisters. i had good conversation with one of the girls who i also talked to the night before. the girls are so beautiful and i just had a really nice feeling about the whole experience. i left the room feeling happy.

Blink 182- the girls here are so sweet and fun. i loved the fact that they just are themselves. they seem to have such a good time and really care about each other. the craft that we did was paint this really big sign for a local school. i enjoed the painting and i just had fun talking to the girls. i can see myself really getting excited about being a member of this group.

Five- wow. i walked in here and was just elated. the girls are just amazing, but at the same time they were intimidating. but i did not want to let that get in the way. i really did love these girls. we watched a really sweet video about their philanthropy. sisters just kept coming to me and talking. it was great. they made me feel so good.

Backstreet Boys- the girls in this group were very inviting. there was a different atmosphere in here than the other orgs. the girls are very down to earth. i spent nearly the whole time talking to the former president about the hurricanes and just weather in general. it was a fun conversation that kinda took my mind off of recruitment.

the next day is prefs. we can only go to two groups...

Prefs....

i got invited to Backstreet Boys, Five, and Blink 182. i chose to go to Five and Blink 182.

Five- i love this one!!!! the girls here are so awesome. i was paired with the girl that i worked with at Chick Fil A. she told me that she would have been so upset if i did not come to their pref. their ceremony was so beautiful. when it was over, i was thinking, "no!! i want more!" everything about this organization is just so wonderful and amazing. i have very high hopes about this one...

Blink 182- a very sweet group of women. their speeches were so touching and heartfelt. i could sense a real love between the women. i was paired with this one girl that i have talked to before. she was telling me how the sisters love how i have been doing so much research on them. there were a couple of slight pauses in our convesation. we both mentioned that i had already asked so many questions before. i still thought that we had a good conversation. i really do like this org. i could definitely see myself doing a lot of things here. i just do not think it gave me the same great feeling that Five did.

well sunday morning at 10 a.m., we get our bids. i am so scared. my pref card went:
1. Five
2. Blink 182

* in case you are wondering, i am way too tired to get into detail. i am just trying to catch everyone up.

cannot wait until tomorrow.
