Talking Songs that have Significance...

Which songs have significance to you? i.e., harbor memories...please write the song title, who it's by, and if you want, what it means to you!

I"ll go first...

"I will Be There" by 112--our (my bf and I) song--he dedicated it to me on the radio, b/c before we got together, I had just broken up with my ex, who was a jerk...I couldn't trust anyone...I felt that all guys were a$$es. The lyrics are so beautiful...and was so RIGHT for my situation.

"Hero" by Mariah Carey--my first boyfriend and I's song...I cry whenever I hear this--I don't think I could find a more "perfect" song for a "first love"!

"With or Without You" by U2--my first dance...I love the song itself, too--do you all remember that it was played during Ross and Rachel's breakup on "Friends"?

"Say It" by Voices of Theory--well let's just say I have very emotional memories w/this one...involves a creep of an ex

BTW, I found an excellent website which has many lyrics of songs--http://lyrics.astraweb.com/--I was so happy, finally a site which has the right lyrics!!

"Lover Lay Down" Dave Matthews "I will wait for no one but you..." OUCH. My ex and I danced to this in my living room the last time we were trying to reconcile (long story, basically a 10 year rela.) as we had both heard this song and every single word applies to us.

"Shame" and "What do I have to Do?" - Stabbing Westward. Trying to get over the ex from above. Everytime I hear these songs its like a knife to my heart--the words are so dead on. If you don't know the songs and you've ever been completely heartbroken, GO LISTEN TO THEM. I'll refrain from posting the words here but I really want to.

"Nasty Girl" I think its Vanity. OLD song Greek Week 1989. Dancing on the lawn of the KA house with a guy I'd been crushing on FOREVER--we were together from that night on for about 9 months.

"In your Eyes" from Say Anything. Same guy as above, we saw the movie together, it made a big impression.

"Somebody" Depeche Mode. It perfectly explains what I've wanted in my life since I first heard it at the age of 14.

"Unforgettable" Natalie and Nat King Cole. Reminds me of my Grandma. I cry ever time I hear it.

SO MANY OTHERS. I will stop with these.
Amy

Tim McGraw's "My Best Friend" That song is awesome and sort of a special thing with my boyfriend and I because we were best friends before we became a couple.

*It's All Because of You by All 4 One
Steven (this guy i used to talk to) burned it for me, it was cute, i liked him, but he's not a one girl type of guy which sucks!

*You Never Even Called Me By My Name by David Allen Coe
That song was on repeat (literally) at our New Years 2001 party.. and so that song brings back good memories

Oh Amy, I'm gonna go and see if I can find the lyrics from the website that I posted above!! Wow, those songs must have meant a lot to you . "Unforgettable" is such a lovely song--that's actually my parent's song!!!! I like Depeche Mode, too!

OK, since you guys had so much detail (which is good!) in your postings, lemme go back and I'll edit mine!

Cool

Hmmm, let's see how deep I want to go into the pit o' college memories....

"Forever Your Girl" by Paula Abdul - my little and I danced solo to this one night at a club (tap dancing and all) so this is our fave song!!

"Why Can't This Night Go On Forever" by Journey & "Hard to Say I'm Sorry/Get Away" by Chicago - used to always be the last songs of the night at our favorite bar my senior year of college.

"One More Try" by George Michael - the guy who we always almost got together, but not quite. It's probably a good thing we didn't (even though I would be filthy stinking rich if we had).

"Sign Your Name" by Terence Trent D'Arby - ummm, errr, uhh, how can I say this? Just let me state when I hear this song, the memories it brings back make me have to pour ice down my shirt & smoke a cigarette.

"You Move Me" by Garth Brooks - the words ar ejust so amazing and everytime i hear it i get tears in my eyes - its about someone who's always there for you supporting you and loving you - its mine and my biological sister Sara's song :-D

"This I Promise You" by N'SYNC - i know know - its a boy band - but my boyfriend Matt sang me to sleep with this song once when we were first starting out becuase i was really scared to start anything with him becuase i was coming off a really bad relationship - the song jus totally touches home with me :-)

Thumbs up

First things first, 33girl-I LOVE CHICAGO! I had the opportunity to go see them in concert during spring break. Unfortunately, not having Peter there wasn't the same, but they're still awesome!

Okay..my songs:

*The Time of My Life*: The theme from Dirty Dancing was our Senior Prom song. Most HS were going for songs that were popular on the radio, but we went 80s! To this day when I hear that song on the radio I think of that night. It was such an appropriate song to end high school!

*Twisted* by Keith Sweat, *You Were Meant For Me* by Jewel, *My Boo* by the GhostTown DJs, *and Do You Miss Me?* by Jocelyn Enriquez: all remind me of senior year in high school

*I'm Alright* by JoDee Messina: You know how, on Ally McBeal, Tracey Ullman encourages everyone to have a "THEME SONG"? That song gets me through every time Brady has to leave on patrol. It's such a wonderful song to play in the car during traffic!

And Brady and I don't really have "an official song"...yet. We've been together a little over a year, but I think we've gone through many songs...especially the ones that come on the radio a lot--like *This I Promise You*.

We met one night over Margaritas, so he jokes that if we do get married one day, we'll be dancing to Jimmy Buffet's "MARGARITAVILLE" for our first dance.

Hmm..now y'all are going to have to look these up on satelight b/c i doubt you have heard them...

"Galieo" by the indido girls (words) "how long till my soul gets this right, can any human being ever reach the highest light"

stevie nicks "Landslide"..."well i've been afraid of changing cause i built my life around you...but time makes you bolder even children get older and I'm getting older too...Oh, take my love, take it down
Climb a mountain and turn around If you see my reflection in the snow covered hills Well the landslide will bring it down If you see my reflection in the snow covered hills Well the landslide will bring it down
