Smile SONG SUGGESTIONS

Greetings,

I hope that everyone is having a safe and joyous holiday season. I have just been sitting here thinking about the goodness of God and everything that He has done for me, and I tell you, I just want to get up from my desk and do a praise dance. I know that you all are asking what does this have to do with my post, but when the spirit moves me to say something I have to be obedient to His word. Many churches in my area cancelled services yesterday due to bad weather but my church didn't and we had a very good time lifting up the name of Jesus.

Okay, now to get to my post, my sweetie and I have been together for 7 yrs now and we have a 3-yr-old son. Within that time we have been through a lot; we both lost our mothers, we've been through break-ups, make-ups, and everything else but we've managed to stick together no matter what. We are finally on the same page (as far as our committment to each other, goals, and our future). I am so happy right now. I prayed and told God what I want out of this relationship and put it in His hands; things have been wonderful every since then. I'm sorry to go on and on but I'm just so happy now

I just wanted to give you guys some background before I got to my question. Although I have been in numerous choirs and have had voice lessons I have never just sang anything for him. He keeps hinting around that he wants me to sing for him. I want to sing something that would really let him know how and I feel and that describes our relationship but I can't think of anything. (The song that I walk in on when we get married will be Everytime I Close My Eyes, by Babyface--- but that won't be for another 3-4 yrs because I don't want to get married right now.) Does anyone have any song suggestions?

Sorry for the long post.....I tend to be a little long-winded

I have a song in mind. Its called, "Did You Know (That You Were This To Me), by BeBe Winans. It is so beautiful. I heard it at the wedding of a couple that was recently married. This couple too has gone through many trials. Another beautiful song would be "Still in Love", by Brian McKnight. I hope this is helpful. God bless you and your relationship. Just make sure that HE continues to be the center of your relationship.

I have a great suggestion for you. It is one of my all time favorite songs. It is "For All We Know" by the late Donny Hathaway. I heard it at a wedding also, it was sung by a groom to a bride as he played the piano with her by his side. The song is just beautiful. And there wasn't a dry eye in the church. Even some of the men were crying!!!

Thanks for the suggestions. Does anyone know where I can get the lyrics to these songs?

Here are the Lyrics to "For All We Know":

For all we know
We may never meet again
Before you go,
Make this moment sweet again…
We won’t say, goodnight until the last minute…
I’ll hold out my hand, and my heart will be in it.

For all we know,
This may only be a dream
We come and we go
Like the ripples of a stream…
So love me, love me tonight
Tomorrow was made for some
Tomorrow may never come
For all we know

~~Donny Hathaway~~

You can find this on his "Donny Hathaway Collection" CD, basically his greatest hits. The song is slow and has a great piano accompaniment(SP?) You really have to hear him sing it to get the full impact of it. There is a 30 second insert of it on the CDNow website under his Collection Album. Hope you enjoy it.
