OPINION POLL: College Football
Just some random questions to get another thread going:
Favorite school that's not your own: Michigan
Best College Football Environment: Oklahoma, Michigan
Worst College Football Environment: Notre Dame (Blame NBC: Every time in-between plays, they just HAVE to show every annoying miopic Irish fan acting like a moron, even if Notre Dame is getting their ass kicked.
School that suffers the most from miopia: Miami, Notre Dame
Who you think will win the BCS: Oklahoma
Should Joe Paterno step down after this season: Does he even know what year it is?
Should Florida have wiated until the end of the year to fire Ron Zook: No, to cultivate Spurrier into coming back.

Best College Football (game day) Environment: West Point, Oklahoma**
Worst College Football Environment: Nebraska -- mainly because the stadium sucks.

Should Joe Paterno step down after this season: Yes, it's time
Should Florida have waited until the end of the year to fire Ron Zook: No. He was need as a fraternity chapter advisor.
**Other great game day environments I've experienced:

Noooo!!!! But JoePa is sooooo cute!!!!
I don't really follow football, but seriously, my roommates and I all think JoePa is cute and PSU should keep him just because of it...though it is sad we're losing.

Should Florida have wiated until the end of the year to fire Ron Zook: Yes it is too big of a distraction to the team.

Re: OPINION POLL: College Football
Favorite school that's not your own: Michigan
Best College Football Environment: Oh gosh, I know I'm biased, but there's something special about SEC football.
Worst College Football Environment: Couldn't tell you if I tried.
School that suffers the most from miopia: Don't know, don't care
Who you think will win the BCS: Oklahoma
Should Joe Paterno step down after this season: I think he should step down now, on his own terms. It's time.
Should Florida have waited until the end of the year to fire Ron Zook: I don't know...I've heard rumor from a credible UF source that it sounds like Florida's AD is also on his way out and the Zook firing timing ties into his situation. I don't know if it's true or not, but this source has been right 100% of the time in the years that I've known him/her. Take it for what it's worth.

Favorite school that's not your own: Syracuse...although UConn is my favorite team, even though I didn't go there
Best College Football Environment: Only been to a couple of football games, and UConn was the best of those...but the only other ones I'd been to were Yale and CCSU, so not much comparison; I'd love to go to a game at West Point though.
Worst College Football Environment: Boston University...can't get much worse than not having a team
School that suffers the most from miopia: Miami
Who you think will win the BCS: Oklahoma
Should Joe Paterno step down after this season: Yes...it's time to do so, despite all the good he's done at Penn State.
Should Florida have wiated until the end of the year to fire Ron
Zook: yes, but the situation would have been messy regardless because of all the player support he had

Favorite School that's not your own: Oklahoma, but out of state, I'd have to go with either Nebraska or Texas A&M.
Best College Football Environment: Oklahoma or Texas A&M. I've seen the Aggies visit our field and every single one of them seemed to stay through the 77-0 win last year -- and they stayed loud. I was very impressed by that. I can only imagine what it's like in Aggieland.
Worst CFB Environment: Baylor -- I've never met a student there that didn't talk crap about their own team. I've never seen a televised Baylor game where the home crowd wasn't outnumbered by the visiting crowd. Pathetic. Aside from Baylor, I'd have to go with either Oklahoma State or Texas Tech for their classless fans.
Who do you think will win the BCS? Oklahoma
Should Joe Paterno Step down after this season? Hell no. I don't want to lose any more assistants off of the OU staff.
Should Florida have waited to fire Zook?: Nope. Just look at what happened to Nebraska when they put off something they had obviously been planning to do for awhile. They ended up with their 99th choice in Bill Callahan. Now they're running the corn coast offense and having very limited success.

Favorite school that's not your own: Georgia
Best College Football Environment: Florida State, Notre Dame, LSU, Ole Miss. Great support for the programs, great party atmosphere before and after the game.
Worst College Football Environment: Duke, where basketball reigns and the football stadium (field?) is smaller than most high school fields.
School that suffers the most from myopia: Florida
Who you think will win the BCS: Oklahoma
Should Joe Paterno step down after this season: It's not as if he can ever beat Bobby Bowden's record now, so he may as well ...
Should Florida have waited until the end of the year to fire Ron Zook: Yes, or either cleaned house completely now and brought someone else in to coach the rest of the season. Too distracting otherwise. If they wanted Steve Superior back so badly that they couldn't wait until the end of the season to push Zook out, then they should have pulled an Auburn and talked to him surreptitiously so that he could come in right before the Georgia game and saved the day for the Gators.

I've heard the same thing, and I too know people on the inside. If you ask me, it's about time J.F. gets fired. He's the reason Spurrier left in the first place.
Also, for you speculators....I was also told Bob Stoops is interested in the job at UF. In case you didnt know...he has a contract sitting on the table waiting to be signed, but for some odd reason he's not signing it for the time being. OU fans would hate UF if their beloved coach left them.....

Favorite school that's not your own: I honestly really don't have one, but if I had to pick I could go with Virginia...my HS colors were navy and orange so that's as good as reason as any
Best College Football Environment: I'm biased for Nebraska, but Texas A&M seems amazing.
Worst College Football Environment:Colorado...how you can have some of the amazing scedules they've had in the past couple of years (teams like UCLA, Oregon, etc) and not sell out any of those games is beyond me.
School that suffers the most from miopia: Kansas State
Who you think will win the BCS: USC
Should Joe Paterno step down after this season: Yes, should have a couple of years ago, now he's just embarassing.
Should Florida have wiated until the end of the year to fire Ron Zook: As far as the current team goes, no. But in terms of recruiting, I think this makes the most sense. Having been through the whole Bill Callahan hiring, I've seen first hand the problems created when a staff has to come in right in the middle of recruiting. If they get the right name *cough* Spurrier *cough* they should be able to salvage this season and keep up on recruiting.
DeltAlum, I'd be interested in hearing why you think Nebraska's stadium sucks.

As far as I've heard (which is 3rd hand but comes from the actual horse's mouth), Stoops is way more likely to head to the pros than a lateral shift. He's not interested in the money, but more in the challenge, although he does feel strong ties to places he's associated with (see: had contract w/ Iowa until the University president did something colossally stupid). UF makes sense there, but I personally see him taking an NFL position instead.

No. He should have stepped down 2 years. Since he put himself ahead of the program he should be fired and forced to leave in disgrace.

Re: OPINION POLL: College Football
Favorite school that's not your own: Air Force (gotta stay loyal to ol' Mother Blue... )
Best College Football Environment: Oklahoma, Texas A&M.
Worst College Football Environment: Texas.
School that suffers the most from miopia: Miami, Notre Dame. (Overhyped by the media, mainly.)
Who you think will win the BCS: Oklahoma (There is no substitute.)
Should Joe Paterno step down after this season?: He still coachin' Penn State? Only way Joe Pa's gonna leave PSU is in a hearse. (No offense intended.) Joe Pa is Penn State, and Penn State is Joe Pa.
Should Florida have waited until the end of the year to fire Ron Zook?: About damned time they finally got up off their ass and listened to the fans, who were right all along!
