I have an idea! I was thinking about asking a series of questions about Tri Delta and Greek life here in this forum, like
What's Greek life like at your school? How many sororities and fraternities do you have, what percentage of students are Greek, how involved are people within the Greek community?
What's your Tri Delta chapter like? What's your reputation on campus? If you had to describe it in one word, what would that word be?
What's your housing situation like? Do you have a house or a dorm suite? If so, who's required to live in? If you don't have a house, do you ever wish you did? What's the prettiest Tri Delta house you've ever seen on another campus?
and things like that, just to get a feel for what Tri Delta's like on other campuses. There would be questions about social events, sisterhood, recruitment, basically everything. I could post them in the livejournal group too, and then we could get both this forum and that one going. How does that sound?

Good idea Sugar and Spice!
I'll answer!
What's Greek life like at your school? How many sororities and fraternities do you have, what percentage of students are Greek, how involved are people within the Greek community?
Greek life at Adelphi is going through a changing period. It's not the same as it used to be, but everyone who is greek has a strong sister/brotherhood. There are 5 sororities - AEPhi, Tri Delta, DG, SDT, & AKA and 1 frat - Sammy, but I heard another one is chartering next year. I'm not exactly sure of the percentages, only one is at total (45) right now (before graduation, I think they had a lot of seniors) and there's only 1 frat with about 15-20 guys. The Greeks do the most on campus, all of SAB (Student Activites Board) is Greek or athletes. Unfortunately athletes aren't allowed to go Greek, so that brings the percentages down.
What's your Tri Delta chapter like? What's your reputation on campus? If you had to describe it in one word, what would that word be?
My collegiate chapter is so close. We went trough a lot together. We held the Dean's Cup every year I was there and won Best Philanthropy Event the past three years. Our reputation is the good girls, we don't haze or discriminate. One word? Diverse.
My alumnae chaper is awesome! Being an alum, you don't have as much of the petty stuff. There's no recruitment competiton or fines for missing events, etc. You just sit back and relax! We have one event planned for each month and it's no biggie if you miss it. We have so much fun together.
What's your housing situation like? Do you have a house or a dorm suite? If so, who's required to live in? If you don't have a house, do you ever wish you did? What's the prettiest Tri Delta house you've ever seen on another campus?
We had a suite on campus in one of the dorms. No houses because of the brothel law and the 3 last names in a house law. Nobody lives in the suite, it's more like a closet to keep our stuff in and hold Standards in. There is also a meeting room. Sometimes I wish we had a house, but I was a commuter so I couldn't have lived in it anyway. The prettiest house is definitly Purdue.
PS - Do you mind if I add you to my LJ friends? I also saw on your profile that we have the same birthday.

Ok-I'm thinking about this Live Journal thing...but I don't know. I just read an article where someone had a blog way back in the early 90's(LOL) when the internet was still young, and all this remained on the internet, and their boss found out what the person had written and fired them.
But I'll answer questions!!
And maybe...just maybe...I'll start my own live journal.
What's Greek life like at your school? How many sororities and fraternities do you have, what percentage of students are Greek, how involved are people within the Greek community
Greek Life at my school is expanding. We have a lot of 'hippy mentality' left over from when Stockton was founded in 1969. I think the first Greeks came on in the 1980's, and didn't have a very positive reputation until recently. More and more people are begining to 'Go Greek'...so its looking good. Lets see, we have 5 NPC Sororities, and I think about 8 NIC Frats. I have no idea how many 'minority' organizations. I think something like between 3-5% of students are Greek. As far as involvement- its also improving. People are begining to enjoy service and everything good like that.
What's your Tri Delta chapter like? What's your reputation on campus? If you had to describe it in one word, what would that word be?
My chapter is...well, all encompesing. We have a great range of girls, and none of us 'look the same' which I know can sometimes happen. Everyone is friends- we may not be best friends, but we all support each other. I know if I have nothing to do, I could take out the roster, point to a random name, call her up and probably have an awesome time.
Our reputation is improving. Not that we ever had a 'bad one'. The administration always loved us, the community always loved us, the frats always loved us. The other sororities...well, 3/4 of them fought very hard to keep us off campus. The 4th ended up joining with the others too, after they realized they weren't the 'popular' sorority to begin with, and if they tried to fight the other 3, they were going to get more trouble for it. It was a very messed up situation. A year ago, I would say that 90% of the girls in the other organizations hated us- I could relay some HORROR stories about how low people can go. But now- I'd say only about 5% of people still harbor animosity towards us, but thankfully they are graduating, and I feel by Fall 2004, everything will be positive.
One word- STRONG
What's your housing situation like? Do you have a house or a dorm suite? If so, who's required to live in? If you don't have a house, do you ever wish you did? What's the prettiest Tri Delta house you've ever seen on another campus?
We don't have any Greek Housing. Most of the sisters live in apts with each other, but you don't have to, its usually a choice (EX- I know at least 4 apts that all 4 roommates are Tri Delts, but I lived with my roommates before, and I promised them I would live with them after). The only house I've seen was UT-Arlington, and it was very nice.
If I think of any other questions, I'll post some!

Sorry, if this is short but I get bored easily when it comes to answering questions...
What's Greek life like at your school?
Our Greek system fluxuating. Numbers go up and down but a long history and one of the largest Greek systems on the West Coast.
How many sororities and fraternities do you have, what percentage of students are Greek, how involved are people within the Greek community?
I think we have 18 IFC and we have 11 NPC. As for cultural and NPHC, far too many to count. I would say close to 20.
What's your Tri Delta chapter like? What's your reputation on campus?
We have a strong reputation on campus, we had a couple of internal problems for a couple of years and it suffered but from what I hear, we are regaining our past position. We never dropped low, just I feel some girls got a little too full of themselves which leads to bad relations with fraternities. Our reputation on campus is a juxapostition. Although most would consider us, the classy "nice, good girls" or girlfriend sorority ( I literally went to at least 20 pinnings during my years in the house...I once had a KD ask me if we have a running tally of how many fraternity pins we collect). I think we at times plagued by the national "Tridelt, everyone else has" stereotype.
If you had to describe it in one word, what would that word be?
Respected and respectful
What's your housing situation like? Do you have a house or a dorm suite?
We have a house... a beautiful Spanish style originally built in the late 1920s. It's been redone a couple times and definitely needed a major overhaul but I still think it is gorgeous. I would say that literally all of our sorority houses are amazing, truly.
What's the prettiest Tri Delta house you've ever seen on another campus?
USC, by far. Their house was at one time a foreign consulate and a beautiful mahogany spiral staircase.

Okay, I intend to answer the questions later, but for the moment I will say that I am an avid online diaryist, and if any other TriDelts wish to, they can find me as Eternal Supernova on www.opendiary.com.
I even discovered earlier this year that one of my regular readers is a legacy who wants to know more about TriDelt today.
