Have you ever been to Spain?
No?
When you're talking about "equality" and such, it's best to know what you're talking about before you open your mouth. Spain is still very much on the road to recovery from being under Facist rule for many years.

Well, if you'd rather live there, move. I'll bet that by the time you're ready to settle down with someone, we'll have something that gays can do -- civil union or gay marriage. I hope the later.
I really wouldn't put it up with human rights though. But I guess you're sort of biased there.

unfortunately this country, settled by the Puritans, is moving farther from either of those options. Hell- the wording of some of the proposed state amendments would prevent me from being medical power of attorney for my future partner. And Republicans in several states (including Iowa) have over the past few years proposed legislation that would keep me from being the legal guardian of my nephew if my sister and brother-in-law were to die.
As soon as I'm done with my education I will take a serious look at leaving this country and settling in a place with a better stance on equality and human rights.

It annoys me that the Republican party has allowed itself in many states to be taken over with religious-extremist hicks. That is the case with the Oklahoma Republican party. I'm all about fiscal conservatism, etc. But their social policy is similar to that of the Taliban sometimes.

I call BS on this. You talk and talk like you usually do. Let's see you go abroad and let's see you get these wonderful benefits you talk about.
