Talking Celebrity Sightings/Encounters

When I meet people from different states and they find out I'm from New York, they always seem to think I've met so many 'celebrities'. Who have you met? When? and Where? How did you originally perceive them, and your final impression?

I was in Tupac's video, "How do you want it"...the concert version.

When I was in Highschool, the summer before my sophmore year, my schools step team went to "Stomp" in L.A. to perform for the competing teams. Well during our spare time, our coach's cousin was directing the video shoot and he invited us as his special guests. First, we sat in the balcony while they did the sound checks, etc. We were not sure if we would be in the video, we thought we were just watching. Well the sound checks took forever and I fell asleep. Then I awoke to this tap on my head.....It was my girl. She was like "look, there go Tupac". He had come upstairs to the sound booth for something. He waved and gave us the go ahead to take pictures. We thought that was it. After they did the shots of him by himself on stage, He was like bring the girls from upstairs down to the front before you let the general public in from outside.
We was like... !!!
Then for the rest of the shoot, and in between takes he talked to us, cause we were in the front row. He talked to us individually and called us by our names. I know that probally sounds silly, but we felt like we knew him, even if it was only for about eight hours. Later on we took picture with him and talked some more and that was it.
That was in June and he died that October (I think). Yes, I think is was finer in person. He was very nice and held real conversations with us. The thing that I liked about him the most was that he did'nt seem like he was faking or putting up fronts.

Thats my story and I'm stickin' to it

Dee

Meeting celebrities is a thing of the past for me. After serving as the editor-in-chief of my university's newspaper for 2 years...back in the early 90s...I have met and interviewed quite a few "celebs" including:

Kim Coles
JODECI
Bill Cosby
Cuba Gooding Jr
The late, great Phylis Hyman
Najee
Susan Taylor
Mandela
Oprah
not to mention a host of U.S. Congress Representatives and Senators
Big Daddy Kane
Public Announcement (R Kelly)
IDEAL (who was just "Ms. Green's boys to me, one of the guy's mom worked at my school)

And I must say that when you have an agenda (an interview) it makes it more relaxing and you don't view them as a "celeb".

My all time fav interview was with Cuba Gooding Jr. right the summer of Boyz in the Hood, July 11 the day before my birthday! He was sooooo nice and laid back.

I was shopping in Macy's (Herald Square) and I saw Prodigy (formerly of Mobb Deep) shopping with his "girlfriend". I also ran into Shanice in the Duane Reade (drugstore), but I didn't say anything to either of them, I guess I didn't want to blow up there spot and cause a scene. They were shopping and buying things just like me. I look at celebrities as being people just like me with more money and popularity than me :rolleyes for now

Pardon me for stepping into your forum ladies...But I didn't think you would mind much....

Hmmm...I met Keshaun Johnson (formally of the New York Jets). My cousin went to Jr. High with him and we saw him at the "Serving Spoon" restuarant in L.A.

I met Bokeem Woodbine (Life, Jason's Lyric) in front of L.A. Hot Wings.

Micheal Bivens, Stevie Wonder, Tiny "Zeus" Lister (he looks as scary in person as he does in the movies) and Magic Johnson all go to my church (West Angeles C.O.G.I.C.)

I met Warren G (when he was still running with Dove Shack, 5 footers, and the Twins) at World on Wheels....But I don't think this one counts...

I saw Micheal Jackson going into this little Afrocentric Boutique in Leimert Park. (the one next door to the "Elephant Walk" restaurant for all you guys who know.

I saw Gary Coleman (yes..GARY COLEMAN) on 2 seperate occasions. Once at this restaurant in the Marina called Rubies wearing a pink shirt and pennie loafers with no socks. (I went up and said wsup to him and he looked at me like I had something strange growing on my face).
The second time was at this arcade and he had a coin belt around his waist. ( I GUESS he was the coin keeper or something...)

I was at a Maxwell concert back stage and met Kim Fields. I said something funny walking back to the car(being loud and ghetto as usual) to the people I was walking with. I hear the people walking behind us laugh at what I said...it turned out to be the Jamaican guy from Living Single (he also is on that show V.I.P). I said "Heeeey...It's...errr....You! Hey..YOU...!" (Couldn't remember his name for nothing ya'll...Still can't for that matter). He just laughed and walked away.
That's about it...

Oh yeah! D'Angelo comes and cooks me dinner and rubs my feet while singing to me every night in my dreams. (I know you all are jealous...)
