For now, my plans to seek AI are on hold... but actually for a very happy reason.
My undergraduate chapter has re-emerged as a fantastically strong organization with a welcoming attitude toward their alumni (one of the things that made me look into AI in the first place). In the past few months, I've been quite busy helping them out (especially with their website-- we've put together ALL of the intiation classes through a lot of digging and research:
TBS-Eta Gamma. It's been frantic, but so much fun.
I'm feeling like I've found the sisterhood-- in my own initiated organization-- that I never had as an active sister. I guess I just happened to go to college about ten years too early. (grin) At the first rush event as I got off the subway to meet everyone, I had a flurry of people running up to give me a hug... I nearly cried.
At a couple of the rush events, I have chatted with the local alumni (female and male), and we're interested in putting together an informal alumni org to help support the undergrads. Since my original reason for pursuing AI was to find a home within a sisterhood that I never knew in college, I don't feel it's fair to the organizations or myself when I have this opportunity right in front of me.
Let's just say I was re-initated into Tau Beta Sigma this year... as as an alumna. And I couldn't be happier.
