Hottytoddy goes to the Windy City!
OK GCers I am going to Chicago next weekend (sept 10th-12th) What's the weather like this time of year? I need to know what to take to wear.
I went in May last year and expected it to be warm and fabulous and I froze my ass off because I didn't bring any kind of jacket.
It's hot as hell in May where I come from.

I went with the AGDs last July, and only brought one sweater with me. It was hot as heck for the first 5 days, but after it rained the temperature dropped to as low as the 50s at night when I was there. It felt nice, but 50's cold for me where I'm from.

I usually found September in Chicago to be pretty warm, but since you're from the south, our definition of "warm" might not be the same thing. If you plan for it to be around 70 and humid during the day and 60s at night, you'd probably be okay. It can get much more hot or cold, but I think that's about average.

What's the occasion?
Valkyrie is right on the money. Bring a sweater and bring shorts as well as pants and you'll be covered.

Damnit...my sweaters aren't due to come out of storage for at least another three months.
BTW: we are going to see my boyfriends precious Cubbies play. I hate baseball, but I think it will be fun.
I'd rather go shopping though

The first time I went to Chicago was in early April. It was 23° the day I arrived, 73° the Tuesday afterwards. I'd plan on pretty warm weather, but bring a jacket/sweater of some sort.

Today it's close to 90. Two weeks ago it was in the 60s. Bring tank tops and sweaters.

Check out Cans Cantina and The Apartment/Lionshead pub - they're not flashy clubs but they're fun.
Armitage street in Lincoln Park, some parts of the Gold coast, and wicker park have some cool stores.

I've been meaning to check these out...they're two entirely separate clubs now, right (unlike when the two spaces were all Alumni Club)? The Apartment sounds cool, but is Lionshead really any different than, say, Red Lion?

I'd reccommend using the metromix website, they're usually up on things in terms of bars as well as what's going on in the city.

If you're looking for live jazz music, The Green Mill is one of the oldest places in the city. It's one of my favorite places.
For shopping, Lakeview has some fun shops on Halsted, Clark, and Belmont.

Have fun. Chicago is a great city.
(Almost took a job there recently, but it was put on hold. Same damned company that did the same thing in NYC last Christmas.)
In any event, there's lots of stuff to do there and good people, too.
