New Hegemon could use idea's.

Fraters,

I was recently elected Hegemon of my chapter and am currently putting togather our 6 week fall education program. If any fraters out there who have already held this position have any really good activities for candidates please email them to me at conquest4hm@cox.net. I want to give these guys the best time of their lives and any input from other chapters will be greatly appreciated.

A good way to get new guys to learn stuff in a fun way is have a tke trivia night each of the 6 weeks. The winner gets some sort of prize. The prizes could, a small tke related trinket, a free dinner with one of the officers, a kiss from a hot lil sis, or even just to be called the new member of the week.

dinners are a big thing that we do...

we organize Big Bro/Little Bro dinners, Pledge/Officer dinners, Brothers cook/serve the pledges dinner, have alumni over for dinner. Pretty much anything that can make them feel like they're part of the chapter, not just the chapter's bitches.

a popular thing that we implemented 3 pledge classes ago was the "earn your letters" program. each pledge buys a T-shirt (of the same color) on the night of covanent. then along the pledge process, the Hegemon awards the pledges, in order, the "T" the "K" and the "E." Then soon after they are initiated, they take the shirt and the letters to a seamstress and then they have a unique letter shirt for their pledge class. you determine what it takes to earn each letter. we do it based on a point system -- play intramurals, become involved in at least one on-campus club/organization outside Greek Life, participate in all service/philanthropic events, bring over at least one guy who receives a bid, etc.

this is something that is VERY popular with the brothers and when the pledges are awarded their letters during the chapter meeting, they feel very important. Then when they wear those letters after initiation, they feel like they really earned them.

One thing that we implemented this pledge season was officer apprenticeships...you basically have one or two pledges (depending on how many you have) per officer based on that office's workload...i'm sure you could do the same thing with chairs if you ran out of offices...this gets the pledges involved in making small decisions for the fraternity from the moment they start their pledge season...its a good way to make men into leaders...and a really good way for pledges to learn more about the business aspect of fraternities

Use the competition

Both the Phi Delta theta and the Phi Gamma Delta natl. web sites have lots of ideas for pledge things.

I also read a good rule somewhere: Don't do anything that you wouldn't be proud to advertise on campus or tell your parents about.

I also like trips, retreats, camp outs - controlled, no alcohol.
