Smile I Love My City!

I happen to live in the most liberal city in the most liberal state in the country, and I cannot imagine living anywhere else! Man, I am SO proud of my city, especially after last week, and today when I was reading an article on Yahoo! about San Francisco. It seems that a lot of people have very disparaging views about "The City by the Bay", and that's all right. You see, I know it as a city that is welcoming and accepting of all types of views (even Republicans), but not judgemental and hateful. It's not immoral or decadent-in fact, I would be willing to bet that there are probably some cities in the South that are probably racier than San Francisco (New Orleans, Atlanta, maybe even Miami come to mind). And so many people have never even been here-they just judge based upon what they perceive as "Sodom" because there are a lot of openly gay and lesbian people here. So, for those of us who can go to SBC Park and cheer the Giants, or to Candlestick (Monster) Park and watch the 49'ers lose again, have dim sum in Chinatown, tapas in the Mission, party in the Haight or the Marina, or just ride a cable car to Fisherman's Wharf, I think that we are pretty fortunate to live where we live-minus the earthquakes, of course!

He's an annoying old hippy that went to ISU in the 70s who posts to an ISU list serv I'm on about any and every thing that happens within or to the LGBT Community in the San Francisco area. If anyone at ISU ever says anything to him about it he goes off on a tantrum that there would be no openly gay people at Iowa State if he hadn't done it first. Very annoying man. Especially when he sends megabytes upon megabytes of footage of weddings in San Francisco and clogs up your email account causing important emails to bounce.
