Heinz Kerry: Opponents of health care plan are 'idiots'

"Of course, there are idiots," Heinz Kerry, the wife of Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry, told the (Lancaster) Intelligencer Journal for Thursday's editions.

Kerry's proposal includes health care subsidies for children, the unemployed, small companies and more; and government assistance to insurers and employers that keep premiums for workers down.

If Kerry is elected, Heinz Kerry predicted that opponents of his health care plan would be voted out of office. "Only an idiot wouldn't like this," she said.

Heinz Kerry stumped in Lancaster, Harrisburg and York on Wednesday, the third day of a four-day campaign swing Pennsylvania.

"I don't have to sell it - the people want it," Heinz Kerry said of the health plan. "The common man doesn't look at me as some rich witch. I talk about what I see. It has always been so. You judge people not by their pocketbook but by their actions. Walk the walk."

I don't see a problem with her comments. Cheney is known for comments like that. If people vote for people because of their spouse they are not to bright. The issues are the things that should matter. Cheney's go f**k yourself comment would have no effect on my vote if I was still considering on who I was votng for.

My friend it was in a different context with a different history and you know it. The Democrats have tried to shut her up because of these comments. She is the absolute opposite of Dean's wife and it is kinda intriguing to watch her to say the least.

Yes but still would you vote on a politician because of their wife or husband and what they say? If that was the case the Hillary haters would have voted out Clinton. So what she isn't pc, I don't mind it. I would be impressed if Laura Bush ever spoke her mind.

Laura Bush does speak her mind but this thread isn't about that.

I also didnt tell people not to vote for Kerry because his wife is a quack. I think you are making it into that really. I just posted an article about what his wife said.

The1calledTKE, I promise I am not trying to attack you but I hope that when you were making your decision on who to vote for, people like Dave Matthews (who is quoted in your profile) did not influence your vote either.

I think her comment about people not looking at her as some rich witch was a bit extreme, but golly she's right about judging people by their actions.

There's nothing wrong w/ being blunt - just have a little tact and class when you do it, and people won't react the way Rudey did.

What?

Anyway, again this was a case of her history - a history that Democrats are afraid of and have spoken to her and Kerry about her staying quiet and not creating controversy.

The comment, albeit funny, isn't the problem I see in this. This is potentially another giant step toward socialism... Um, where is the money to fund these subsides/ lower these premiums supposed to come from?
