Fashion Industry
Does anyone here work at a fashion magazine? I've just been invited to go into a magazine for an interview, and was wondering what the best thing to wear is. I don't want to look too conservative (suit) nor do I want to look too funky (well, I don't have anything too funky, anyway). Any advice? Thanks

Something Prada? I don't know, but it sounds like a cool job. How did you get into that, if you don't mind my asking?

It's an unpaid internship position, and I don't know if I'm going to get it (seeing that I wasn't a journalism major). All I did was send in an assignment, involving a critique of the magazine, story ideas, etc. I emailed them my assignment today, and they promptly emailed me back about the interview!

That's so awesome!! And congrats on getting the opportunity
I've always wanted to work at a fashion magazine
I would say that depending on the magazine and the atmosphere, you have different options. I know a lot of magazine's allow there employees to wear jeans, and if you're up for it you could wear a really cute pair of fitted jeans with a cute tweed jacket. Or maybe for a more conservative outfit you can wear a simple suit, and then wear a fun, bright color, trendy top underneath. Hope this helps a bit. Keep us posted, cuz I can't wait to hear how it goes.

Even if they allow their employees to wear jeans, you should NOT wear jeans on a job interview! Even though it may be a fashion magazine, you still want to look like a professional and look like you're taking the interview very seriously. I like the simple suit with a shirt underneath/accessories to jazz it up.

Update...
Just to let you know that I just came back from the interview. I'm not sure what the result is, because they asked me when I was available, but at the same time, said that they'd get back to me. Anyway, the interview wasn't very long, only about fifteen minutes or so, and they mostly asked me what I was interested in, and why I'd like to work in the magazine/editorial industry. They also asked me if I minded answering phones, faxing info, etc. That's basically it.

Update
Unfortunately, I received bad news yesterday. They called to tell me that they decided to go a different route this time around.
