San Diego?

SO i'm a college grad as of may 2004...and i havent been abe to find work in my industry yet. I majored in Communication and would like to start my career in Public Relations or Event Planning.
Currently I am an office assistant at PGI, a corporate event planning company. My position is temporary, and when i interviewed i was told that 80-90% chance i would be promoted to the account coordniator position... long story short, the way things are looking now there will not be another accounr coordnaitor...and i have 2 weeks left here. So my question is, does anyone have any connections to the job market for PR and Events in San Diego? or even NYC? any connections would be great.

welcome to my world!

here's a website that's got a TON of PR websites listed by state on it:

http://www.marketingtool.com/channel/pr/index.html

also:

http://newyork.craigslist.org/

try getting a job outside the state you're living in. it's a biotch. . .my advice is be open to another internship. i've found that companies who don't have any job openings for recent grads like ourselves are willing to offer an internship. the more experience you get the better position you are in to get a "real" job. hope this helps!

(edited for spelling oops!)

Josh,

Another avenue for PR/Event Planning is hotels. The Bahia/Catamaran has a PR/Events dept. A friend of mine worked there right out of USD.
