You got me-- I have not heard that one. I can't see why on earth that would be a problem, seeing as though the word "soror" could refer to any member of any of the 4 sororities. What's the purpose of on-line communication if we can't address each other by what we really are? Where did you hear that? Keep me posted, okay?

Yes, I heard that you cannot address the ladies of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. or any other members of a sorority and fraternity as such because that is being disrespectful to them. I had to learn it the hard way and now I knowledgeable out it.

I'm a bit confused-- is it an issue of whether or not we can call our own members sorors or whether non-members can refer to us as sorors? In the latter case, I do think one must earn the right/privilege to use that nomenclature. In the former case, my initial reply still stands-- I don't see why we can't address our fellow members as "soror"-- what else could be possibly say? This sounds like one of those call ("oo-oop") issues to me.

Looking through the Protocol and Traditions Manual, there is no mention in regards to this issue (pg 10) only the stationery issue that we all seem to know (addressing of envelopes). Other than that, I haven't heard of this unless it is something that is goiong to be brought up at convention (isn't that where she said this would be addressed, dstbrat?)

let me clarify, in the same manner that we should not write 'soror' on an envelope, we should not address one another as soror via the internet because it is open written communication. i am not saying this is correct, i am asking if any of you had heard this.

If it is written in the Protocol and Traditions Manual then so be it. Otherwise.....that reminds me of a veteran PERP trying to tell me something about the elephant. I looked at her like she was crazy and she is...for real.
