Talking Favorite Infomercials

How Come I absolutely love infomercials and I never, ever buy anything (unless, I buy it from Cowtown, my Philly and Jersey peeps know what I'm talkin' bout). But, I will watch the same infomercial every time it comes on like it's a television show.

My absolute favorites are

1. Ron Popeil's Showtime Rotisserie. "Just Set It & Forget It" that's the corniest slogan. I watch it all of the time and wonder if it really works.

2. Ron Popeil's Food Dehyrator. That food just look absolutely nasty. Who in the world would pay over $100 to make their own dog food when beef jerky costs a little over a quarter.

3. Ron Popeil's Pasta Maker. Chocolate pasta? Eeew!

4. That spray on hair that Mr. Popeil invented. Bald men spraying shoe polish on their scalps is just pure comedy. I wonder why they don't show this one anymore

5. Chef Randall's Turbo Cooker. You can cook whole meals in one pan in less than fifteen minutes. No more messy dishes. You can cook dry pasta and frozen meat at the same time just add some liquid to activate the convection steam.

6. Air Core cookwear system. This one I actually would buy if it wasn't $300. Your food actually cooks itself without direct heat. You can start a pot roast, put it in the car, and it'll be ready by the time you get to Grandma's house.

7. Orange Clean and Power Paste. It just makes everything clean on tv. But, when I bought it, it didn't do a thing but make my tub smell like oranges for three days.

I can't be the only one who likes infomercials. What are your favorites? Have you ever bought anything from an infomercial? Did it work the way that it was supposed to?

It really works! My brother-in-law has one and uses it all the time. I had Sunday dinner at their house one day last month and he used it to cook a ham. It was delicious.

CL, you named all of mine, too!!! I'm glad to see I'm not the only person that loves infomercials!!! Now, the one that I used to absolutely LOVE was the one with the dress that was a piece of material that you could make into like a million different dresses? I LOVED THAT MESS!!! It was just so funny to me.

The Showtime Rotisserie one is my all time favorite.

I used to watch the George Foreman ones and think, what a crock... this isn't gonna go anywhere. How wrong was I? George Foreman Grill is now a household word like oven.

Now, the one that'd like to see if it really works: the air core thingie. It amazes me everytime, and I need to know if it works.

Man, CL, we are like Bobby and Whitney: we got somethin' in common! LOL! Oh, I love the corny jokes, LOL LOL!

I don't know if you would consider this an informercial or not but my favorite informercial would have to be the one that was advertising the Hollywood Diet. I want to lose a few pounds so that one definitely sparked my interest. I haven't tried it yet, but now I do know that's it on sell in any pharmacy/drug store (i.e., Walgrens, CVS, etc.)

COPA!

The Copa infomercial with Debbie Allen is my favorite. That product supposedly straightens your hair, so you'll never have to use relaxers again. I don't know anyone that has tried it, but I don't believe it. It's probably bogus just like those Rio hair straightener infomercials. Didn't that Rio junk take out a LOT of sista's hair?

For the record, the quote was Stop the INSANITY and the woman's name was Susan Powter; when I first saw her in that infomercial, I thought she was Joe Piscopo and Annie Lennox 's(lead singer from the Eurhythmics) daughter.

Slim in 6.

That Black girl on there really makes you think it could work for you too. I watch it just to hear her testimony and then I change the channel.

This thread is great, since I'm a complete DORK, I must say i really like infomercials too. I thought I was the only one until me and my college roommate used to watch them together. My favorite are normally the cooking ones. The ultimate is that vaccum one that sucks all of the air out of the bags and then you can store food longer. I also like the Taebo ones for some odd reason, almost made me buy. Only two products have gotten me to buy so far:
1. Winsor Pilates - Which like ALL of the workout videos would really work if you used them. This one is great though cause you really do see a difference after using the 20 minute workout for seven days.
2. Proactiv - Which my neighbors always ask if it really works when they see me getting the box in the mail. And I am definitely another Proactiv satisfied customer. That isht really REALLY works.

Stop the Insanity with Susan Powter -- LOVED HER.

I liked the one with the cleaning paste. I think it was HP9000. You only needed like an inch and it would turn brown water white.
