Sisterhood Awards
Hi everyone,
I'm trying to make up some sisterhood awards...can anyone help me out and give me some more ideas? They can be funny, they can be serious. Here is what I have so far...
Most involved sister(s):
Most improved sister(s):
Most dedicated sister(s):
Sister secret (the sister that you never see):
Sister sunshine (the one that is too gosh darn happy in the morning):
Best sense of humor:
Thanks
Have a nice day

We got rid of awards you voted on (except for the ones natoinals made us do) my senior year, because some people got multiple awards and some got none and people were getting agitated. We changed it to the formal committee making up individual awards for every sister (things like PSK groupie award...KMart shopper award) that were more specific and things only sisters understood. That way everyone got one and you didn't have to worry that the sis who got 'biggest flirt' would have some 'splainin to do when her home town honey showed up at the formal.

What we have done forever is senior awards. These awards are made up by the seniors and passed down after the senior cermony before they graduate. We all get together and the seniors pass down all the awards they got throughout the years, and they can make up new ones to give out as well. I have a couple about being a ghost during pledging and am included on ones that my name is on but the person closest to graduating holds on to, like "I love the SigEps!" The seniors write who they are giving it to on the paper and why and pass it down. Usually there is a funny picture or paper cut out on it as well. It's great, and since there are so many people and so many awards handed down over the years pretty much everyone gets at least one. Plus, even if you don't, you know that you probably will next year. It's a great tradition!

We do something similar to this as well, but it is done at formal. We, as a chapter, vote on the award for each senior. They are given a sash (sp?) and a crown.

We don't give the awards to seniors, they make up awards and give them to the chapter members. These are then passed down year after year. Some of them are tatered and over ten years old! I probably wasn't clear when I was explaining it...I tend to get carried away and stuff I write doesn't make sense.

What we do is have a weekly Sisterhood Support award (it's actually a bra that we decorated). Each week the past winner passes it on to another sister who did something nice for her personally or for the whole chapter. Also, we give nicknames to our pledges that are announced at spring formal (it's always something cute and nice that fits an event during pledging...mine was Super Pledge).

At our formal, usually the social chair and assistant social chair make up awards for each girl based on her personality so that they can be funny. We all have a blast finding out what everyone got. I have THE worst luck with guys of anyone I know and whenever someone asks me if I have a boyfriend I say that the only man in my life lives in a fishbowl on top of my dresser (I have an unhealthy obsession with my fish, I love him to death) so the award I got at formal was Sister Most Likely to Have a Fish as the Only Man in Her Life. I loved that one so much.

Do you have a house? There can be an award for "House Hunny" of the week-- a sister who helped another house girl out, or kept an area tidy, etc.
Other ideas for Weekly Awards:
Panhellenic Power Pick (someone who was really Panhellenic this week)
Miss Conduct: someone who acted like a real lady
Safe Sister: Someone who helped a sister out a situation (IE: someone who was a DD, etc.)
Our new members did "Alpha Superlatives" after they were initiated where they nominated one another for silly "most likely to" awards that were given out at an "Alpha Reunion" a week or so after initiation.
For Yearly Awards given out at banquet/formal: all officers and advisers were recognized. We also nominated women for such awards as "Sister of the Year," etc. We named awards after distinguished chapter alumnae or alumnae who had supported the chapter in some way like "Suzy Smith Loyalty Cup" etc...

We have some serious award:
Sisterhood award
Chapter goal award
Outstanding Officer award
Scholarshipo award
(and a couple others)
But then we do the "Kappa Grammies" where everyone gets a "joke" award. One year is was "Kappa most likely to..." (I was Kappa most likely to become a tax collector - I was the treasurer that term) and the next we did "Lil' Miss ___" (I was lil miss roadtrip). There are really fun because they make everyone laugh and everyone is included.
