New Chapters- Much Love or More Tests
Greeting Sorors,
I attend a top notch Ivy League Institution and for years my LS's have been trying to get a chapter established at our school. Just this past Spring we were successful in reaching our goal. I was wondering what are everyone's opinions on New Chapters. Will we be recieved with open arms or will we have to Stand the Test of Time and prove our worthiness.
Much Love & Deltaness

Greetings Soror Small Wonder:
Welcome to our illustrious sisterhood!
A new collegiate chapter (Tau Theta) was established in May 2000 at West Point, in Upstate New York. Although I was unable to attend the ceremony, many of my L.S's did. And from what I understand, everything went well and the new sorors were welcomed with open arms.
I would only hope that any sentiments you've experienced from sorors in established chapters, have been nothing short of warm and inviting.
I hope this helps! Once again, welcome to our illustrious sisterhood because we are a DevaSTating and DiSTinguighed sisterhood of college-GRADUATING women committed to academics and outstanding public service!

Soror Small Wonder,
Welcome to Delta! I wouldn't worry about a lack of love since you are with a newly formed chapter---Sorors will show you a lot of love! By the way, what's the name of your Chapter.
BklynDelta and DirectorDST99, I heard about Theta Tau at West Point. I think they have the distinction of being the first collegiate Delta Sigma Theta Sorority chapter chartered at a military institution. If this is incorrect, let me know. I found out from another Soror, I wish I could've went.

Hey LS and fellow sorors!!! I went to the charter meeting of Tau Theta and it was beautiful!!! This occurred on May 7 and 11 young women were bought into our prestigous organization. Their process was officiated by members of Rockland and Westchester Alumnae chapters. My sands are wonderful people and it was an honor to meet them. Trust me, their wasn't a snub off of any new soror!!!!

As per Nationals, the chapter chartered on May 7, 2000 at West Point is named TAU THETA!

It's easy to transpose names...the city-wide chapter is Tau Theta...we all make mistakes. Dejavu, good eye for detail.
So, now that we know the name..let's welcome them with loving arms.

Deja Vu,
Interesting question. My chapter of initiation is Theta Nu and it was chartered back in 1971. And the way I was told chapters are named, that would mean that only 12 chapters have been founded since mine 30 years ago. But then again, there may have been circumstances we don't know about. Just a Sororly observation.

I didn't realize that I transposed the name.
Thanks for the correction!
