Free IPOD LEGIT!!!

Guys I was sent this link from a friend. When I received it I thought it was a scam. He came over this weekend and showed me his new free ipod. I also talked to a few other friends who signed up under him as well and they received their free ipods. Pretty cool. Thought I would share it with everyone.
Here is the link to the FREE IPODS WEBSITE:

And here is an article in Wired Magazine talking about how this works and how it is LEGIT:

I really wasn't trying to spam anyone... from what I understand this is suppose to be legit. I was pretty skeptical at first bc I see tons of these things all the time. After reading the article and seeing it for myself Im convinced.

Actually, I do know someone who did this and got a free iPod. The catch is that you have to get 5 other people to sign up, and then you get the iPod. So yeah, it's legit.

still seems very shady to me. Sign up for a credit card (or whatever the "offers" are, then get 5 of your friends to sign up for credit cards.

All the time trying to convince people to do that, you could just get a job and buy your own Ipod.

Would NOT want to give my info to one of those sort of sites! Scary.

In any event, it's still not allowed within the TOS of this site to solicit people like this.

It cracks me up when people still forward me the old Abercrombie and Gap emails that promise free clothes. Brings me back to freshman year.

I found this website earlier in the year and did a little research. I found at least three news articles reporting on it and I could not find a single report saying it was false. It's not totally free though (there's ALWAYS a catch)--what you have to do is sign up for an offer through one of the affiliated companies (a few examples are a free 2-week trial of blockbuster's new mailing service, try realrhapsody for $0.99 for a month, 5 dvds for $0.49 through colombia house dvd...there are some others also) and get five of your friends to complete offers as well. I'd be game for trying it, but most of my friends are skeptics as well.

Oh also (a tip for if you do try it): my understanding is that some of these offers are either free or pretty cheap, but you have to be very careful and READ EVERYTHING! Some of the offers have some interesting fine print...for example, I was reading a contract on one of the vitamin/mineral supplement trials (2 weeks worth for $7.95 or something like that) and it also mentioned in fine print that if you didn't cancel within 14 days that they would sign you up for a $70 package! And since you'd have to give them your credit card # to pay for the two-week trial, they could easily bill your credit card.

So if you do decide to try freeipod.com, make sure you READ the contracts, CANCEL subscriptions if necessary (so you don't get billed up the wazoo) and BUY one of those mastercard or american express gift cards instead of using your credit card so they really can't bill you for money you don't have.
Just my two cents.
