Yep, Thetameg, activity comes and goes here. Why don't you post a topic? I check almost daily, too.

Me too!
I post every day too and I am so disappointed when there is no activity!
Just went to District 5 DLC with our Exec (I'm the Recruitment Advisor) last weekend. It's always so inspiring to meet the women who serve our fraternity as members of the district team or Grand Council. It motivates me to work harder!
Speaking of Recruitment - anyone have any good songs they want to share? We need some desperately!

recruitment songs
Hi, this is to kiteflyerzl--we have lots of cute rush songs, if you want I'll type them up for you. Let me know! Some of them are specific to my school but you could probably modify them.

I recently ordered my own copy of the songbook from Headquarters. Some of the songs my chapter sang during recruitment are in there. I think there is also a tape you can get of recruitment songs too.(I THINK!).
I recently took on the role of permanent alumnae secretary for our Nu chapter at Hanover College in Indiana. Has anyone on this board done this job before? Or know someone who is/has?
i too check this forum with Beta Sigma Phi everyday. Unfortunately due to nursing school demands i no longer have time to browse around and post elsewhere on this site

YAY responses! Nothing significant to add to the song discussion, except elation that there IS a song discussion!

activity!
ok, so there are at least five of us who check on a regular basis! So glad to see I'm not the only one.
Mary -- I am the PAS for the Eta Nu chapter at Lake Forest College. Since it is THE newest chapter, it's a small job! Although, we initiated seven more alumnae from the local sorority that affiliated with Theta, so it's getting bigger.
I have a copy of the CD of songs. The recordings are not very good quality. When the HN chapter was installed, the music director from HQ was there and said that they were working on a new CD. Maybe soon!

Mary, have you contacted Lou Simpson, Director of PASes? She is a Theta gem, really one of my very favorite Thetas.

Sorry to crash your forum, ladies. I saw in the Tri Delta forum that an original copy of their Constitution is on e-Bay. But a ritual book on sale is bad too. I hope someone from your organization gets it back. How in the heck do people get ahold of these things to sell? It's sad.
Anyway, good luck to you in getting this back. Does your EO know about this? Someone should tell them.

Ugh - the ritual book on eBay is an awful thing. I wish I had some extra money so I could bid on it - not because I want it (I have a recent one) but because I don't want a non-Theta to have it.
I have previously ordrered the tape of the songs from HQ and it was awful - both the recording and the songs really. I sometimes feel like HQ really lets us down in this area compared to some of the other groups. They are great if you have questions or need help with something very specific but they are not at all proactive in providing ideas for songs, etc. when it comes to Recruitment. If you read the postings from members of other NPC groups on this site, it sounds like their HQs really put more effort into recruitment (the actual events - not the policies behind them) for the national (or international) group as a whole than Theta does. I've seen the song book too and we do sing some of the songs in that book but many of them are very outdated. It's important that our recruitment events stay with the times!!
I've never been a PAS but kudos for you for being appointed to the position!

April

hahah yeah. I ordered the tape of our ritual songs to refresh my memory(having the lyrics are one thing but trying to get the tune right is another). I agree the quality is a bit off. I think the thetas on the tape atleast for the ritual are the grand convention chior from one of the conventions in the 60's. Some of the songs that i did remember we didnt exactly sing them the way they sing them on the tape.............i dont know if certain notes have changed over the years or if my chapter just has been singing them wrong

Pm me withteh songs you have been singing for recruitment. If I have some different ones I'll pm them to you. This past recruitment the ELC's were at my chapter during their preference party. They learned a new song in 20 minutes and sang it at preference as the PNM's exited. It was beautiful. I have the lyrics to that one if you would like it. I think it is fairly new. "Theta Love" is the title and it's sung to the tune of "the Rose"

I've seen several chapters' initiation rituals, and from my experience, each one has just a slightly different take on things, usually slightly different tunes.
