New Sorority on HBCU where their are only NPHC orgs.

Hello all I don't know if this is the place to put this, but I guess I will try.

I would like to know how do I bring a new sorority to a HBCU where their are only NPHC orgs.

I am a member of Sigma Beta Xi Sorority Inc. and I would like to start a chapter on my campus but the only advisory board on my campus is for the NPHC orgs.

Can anyone give any input or advice?

The administrator in charge of Greek Life should be able to help you. If there isn't one, try to get an appointment with whoever is in charge of all student organizations.

You will probably need to become a registered student organization, first.

Is this your web page? You have an interesting history - I wish you well!

Thumbs up

First off, it will be a tuff road to travel

LXA did it at N C A & T.

While it is a HBCU, it is also diversifying like many Colleges are to keep enrolment up.

They are having a tough time of it, but While I am trying to give encouragement it is still tough. They expressed the help that The have gotten from NHPC Chapters and feel that they can progress.

What impressed me the most was in The Colony Review Committee That I was on, there were 3 young men and their Advisor there.

1 Asian, 1 Black, and 1 White. The Advisor was white but a LXA Brother working with them as a member of the Faculaty who beleives in LXA and The New Young Men who are trying to do something.

Maybe it is time to break down the I am You am barrier and You
find in an Organization what you feel good with!

No matter what.

I agree with everyone here. you need to go to the department of Student Life on your campus and fill out the necessary paperwork so you can fully be recoginized. good luck to you.

I have a question and I promise I am not trying to be rude, but if you are a community based sorority/organization do you really need to be based on a campus?

As others have said I'm sure it will be difficult for you but I think you should probably shoot for a larger campus with women who may be more open to joining a group outside the D9. Not that women on a small campus wouldn't be open but it would be a harder sell I'd imagine.
