New 'Trading Spaces'

This is posted on anchorsonline.org, but don't think I've seen it here:
"The producers of the television show Trading Spaces (The Learning Channel - TLC) came to Northwestern University in the spring 2004 seeking two Greek groups to feature on an upcoming episode of the hit show. After several interviews, Sigma chapter of Delta Gamma was chosen to participate. The chapter "traded spaces" with collegians from Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. Each team redecorated the others' dining room. The film crew came to campus and set up in the chapters' living rooms for three days in May.

The show will air on TLC on August 7, at 9 PM eastern. It was an educational experience for the entire chapter, advisers and staff. Mark your calendar!"

Congrats to Sigma chapter!

I've seen lot's of commercials for it...the girls are wearing black shirts with a big white DG on the pocket. I can't wait to see the episode!

I met some ladies from the North Shore chapter at convention and they told me about it. They traded dining rooms with Theta. Without giving away the end results, suffice it to say the room turned out "very interesting."h Apparently the Theta room turned out "lovely." I do know that Sigma completely redid their dining room after the Trading Spaces experience.

I think it is interesting that TS says this is their largest space (on their Web site) because I've been in the Sigma dining room twice and it is about 25 x 15.

No offense to the Theta's (since they were just following the designers instructions)...but the DG room was just horrible. I mean, by far the most ugly room I've seen on Trading Spaces. What were they thinking? The Theta room turned out beautiful, but the DG room looked so bad. Who thought that a purple/green color scheme was a good idea...and WHO PAINTS A piano white with silver glitter?!?!?!! You can't just CUT chair arms off...and the cloth on the floor was horrid. I feel so bad for the DG's at North Western...they must have had to work hard to re-do it...again.

I thought the Theta room did not look that much different from what it was before. The microwave in that little box in the big storage unit had "fire hazard" all over it.

I'll agree the color scheme and the decor of the DG room was puzzling. It didn't seem to be "decorated." Just painted. Oh well.

I sort of liked the white tables with purple pillows....but everything else....

....and what was the deal with the stuffed animals?? The DGs had money left over and made clocks. That girl bought animals?

But did you hear how impressed Frank was with the DG team?? Definately mentioning this during Rush next week!

I did like the letters and anchor that were on the wall of the DG room, though. But I didn't like that curtain at all!

the anchor cut out was kind of strange to me. It looked very different than what was shown on paper.

I think Frank definitely gave major kudos to the DG girls. Did you hear how he was going on and on about how mature they were and all the compliments on them? It was great!

I loved Frank's compliments as well...

I thought the anchor looked really odd. It was not like the picture at all. I didn't even think it looked much like an anchor.

yeah definitely unimpressed with the shape of the anchor, the stuffed animals (i mean they could have at least bought a cute little sailor or something to hang there.. i dunno they had NOTHING to do with DG!) and the piano.. wow.. Theta's house looked good.. go job DGs!

Sorry to crash, but I saw the show last night in a re-run. I liked the purple, but when one of the DG's saw it she said, this looks like a 4 year old's room....and she was right. The piano was awful!! Spray on glitter doesn't always make things better!! And what were the stuffed animals about? Scary. But I agree, Frank said some lovely things about your girls that were well deserved!! And they looked like they had fun on the show!

Oh, and I did like the idea of the light up anchor and DG..excpet the letters looked a bit odd. Cute idea though!

EEK! That room was awful and the stuffed animals were ridiculous.
Poor little Sigmas. But what Frank said about them was absolutely priceless. And I'm so glad that they got their room re-done for real!
