If weather becomes a concern, recruitment events will be rescheduled accordingly. Safety first!

These 2 systems look like they're going to be out of here by Saturday morning. Does Recruitment start over the weekend or after?

By Saturday morning, both storms will be wreaking havoc on the Eastern Seaboard. At least, that's what my weatherman says!
No worries.

Looks like it won't be a consideration for those schools. But be assured, as someone who was a freshman in high school when Hurricane Andrew wreaked havoc on South Florida in 92, life does go on.

Last year a hurricane decided to come through Raleigh during recruitment. It did change the schedule...We are weird, I know...and we have a two day break inbetween Skit Night (3rd round) and Pref Night. Well, because of the hurricane which was supposed to hit on what would have been Pref Night, Panhellenic decided to move Pref Night forward one day. They announced it at 10 AM on the new (day of) Pref Day. It was a CRAZY scramble to get everyone ready and everything. DG didn't have it too bad (since it was our first recruitment and we had not reserved anyplace for Preference we had planned to have it at the house anyway)...but all the other sororities that had reserved rose gardens and old Victorian houses had to cancel their reservation and "make due" with their house. Luckily it's about the sisters and now the location anyway.

These don't sound like they'll cause TOO much damage. I'm sure there'll be tree branches everywhere, and maybe some downed powerlines, but I don't think it'll wipe everything out in its path. They'll have the whole weekend to clean up too.

I don't want to jinx us but I doubt these will do enough damage take out chapter houses and destroy everything. These are certainly no Hurricane Andrew (I was in Broward County for that one...scary, scary, scary storm). Like astroAPhi said, there will be some trees and powerlines knocked down from tornadoes and some damaged cars but that will probably be it. There might also be severe flooding on the streets. I don't think UCF or UF who begin their recruitment next week should have any problem. Both schools are far enough inland that the winds won't be as severe (except for the tornadoes that will probably spring up) and they definitely don't have to worry about storm surge. USF will probably be the most effected since they're on the West Coast (and closer to the water) which is where the Hurricane will be hitting.

Ooooh, forgot about flooding. Gotta love Florida and it's complete flatness.
