Political Yard Signs

Not sure if everyone is aware Missouri is voting on Admendment 2 today. This admendment would write into the state constitution that the only recognized marriage in the state would be between a man and a woman.

I have a vote NO sign on Admendment 2 in my front yard. I am married, have two kids, and respect everyone's rights to do with themselves as they please. It is not my right to tell someone else how they may and may not live their lives.

This morning I went outside to leave for work-- my sign is missing--- and the bigger issue is--- someone left a lovely present in my driveway and on my husband's truck.... several large piles of crap!!! Literally 3 or 4 piles of sh!+ in my driveway and on the back of my hubby's truck.

I called the police (keep in mind this is a small town--conservative small town) they came and took a report and as the cop left I was told, well at least today is election day.

Agree or disagree with the gay marriage issue-that is your choice, we live in America---- but you would think in the year 2004 we could be respectful of others opinions!

According to a few threads on GC the answer is apparently NO!

But seriously, that is one reason why I do not put political signs in my yard (or on my car). There are some "looney toons" supporting both parties (and some folks don't support no one - they just like causing trouble).

You would think so. In my opinion, when people do crap like that (literally, in your case) it only makes "their" side look worse. I can respect people who are totally against abortion, but when they start gunning down doctors and blowing up clinics, that's where the buck stops. It makes the 90% of rational anti-abortion people look like nutjobs.

If someone did this simply because of your political stance, I think it’s terrible. People should be able to disagree and leave the disagreement in the arena of thoughts and words. How can you be sure that the sign or your political position are actually motives behind this vandalism? Couldn’t it also have been a random act? Whatever the reason, the individual/s involved should be punished.

Isn't it ironic that the fuckwit that did this was probably doing it thinking it was the Christian thing to do?

hijack...

I know "someone" who has removed political signs from lawns in the middle of the night on the way home from the bars.

A Poli Sci prof I had told us a story about one group of students who collected a bunch of signs and put them aaaaallll in his lawn. "That's what I get for living close to campus" he said.

hahahaha--- we also thought if we find out who the nutjob was we should set his punishment as a night with me and friends at our favorite drag bar!!! i am sure the dragqueens would love to hear about his political stance!!

and while i would never do this, as i would only cause more issues and look like an a$$, i would love to put a sign in my yard that says "I still voted NO, you pile of Sh!T."

You don't tell people how to live their lives but you will tell them how to vote.

I don't tell people how to live their lives, either. Vote Yes.

Explain the logic of that. If you vote "Yes" on an amendment to ban gay marriage, how is that not telling people how to live their lives?

Just curious how you came up with that.

By expressing my views that is in NO way of telling someone how to vote-- it is a simple expression of my support on this issue.

And as KTSnake pointed out, by voting yes that would be telling someone how they can live their life! Voting no would allow people to live life they choose.
