Has anyone been keeping up with the Democratic Convention?
Good Folks,
I hope you good folks are all registered to vote and keeping up with Decision 2004. Tonight, Wednesday, July 28, 2004, the good Reverend Al Sharpton and the Vice-President Nominee John Edwards are going to speak. I've also become an fan of the "Tom Joyner in the Morning Show" and their segments and commentary about this election process. The media in general is saying that they've never seen the Democratic party so united in their efforts to get the 43rd President out of the White House.
I just hope that my people (African Americans) vote and aren't disfranchised like the previous election.

I watched Barack Obama (a man who will most likely be the only black in the US Senate and the first black president of the Harvard Law Review) last night and he delivered an incredible keynote speech. I was not as impressed with Ron Reagan, though, but that may have more to do with my feelings about stem cell research and his father.
Bill Clinton gave a really good speech Monday Night. Hillary knows she needs to run for president, but I guess one go round was enough for her.
I saw our current president's speech at the Urban League's national conference. I was a bit ticked off because he had nothing to offer except that democrats take black votes for granted. I was like, surely you have more than that. When the camera focused on Jesse Jackson, I could have sworn he was thinking the same thing.
I think that people are really understanding the importance of this election. It seems like everyone is determined to register voters in this area of the country, and most of them are trying to get rid of you know who.

ok...I'm late
I watched it, and I was energized. Bill and Hillary Clinton were wonderful, John Edwards' enthusiasm proved why he is the perfect compliment to Kerry, and John Kerry made me believe that "Help is on the way".
Soror Simon, I'm surprised that you all didn't get sick listening to Dubya. So you're gonna rag on what the Democrats don't do, but you can't tell us the good things that you and your regime have done? Riiiiiiiight....
IMHO, people are taking the 2004 elections much more seriously. People in general see how serious it is to get Bush out of office. Kerry might not be perfect, but he is better than Bush by leaps and bounds. I think the perfect voter registration tool would be showing "Farenheit 9/11", even if it's a bootleg copy. That would show people how serious it is to make sure Bush is out. I am glad to see the hip hop community getting seriously involved in urging the youth to register to vote and make it to the polls.
To paraphrase Chuck D of Public Enemy, if you don't like the way 2004 looks under Bush, you don't wanna see 2006 in his hands.

Now, hold up, soror, we can't be advocating the bootlegs... It is important that we are all involved in our political process, but we can't go around breaking copyright laws.

It just really very interesting that the GOP and Bush came up with a way to . . .
Folks,
It's just really interesting that the Bush Administration has found credible information that a serious terrorist cell (Al Qaeda and the crew) are planning to attack world banking and financial institutions in New York, New Jersey, and Washington, D. C. They are pulling out all of the stops to get re-elected. Bush and the GOP are causing unnessary fear and it seems that he's using some of the same tactics as the terrorist. Shame on the Bush administration for trying to win votes by any means necessary.

And another point:
We are living in the post 9-1-1 era and most people should realize that our world will never be rid of groups that want to harm the Western world (U.S.A).

Soror TRSimons,
I won't say that I've never watched a bootleg tape, however, I do agree with you about not going out of our way to commit a crime- not the Ladies of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. ! Folks the stars and artist have to make a living just like we do! And god knows that I enjoy getting a paycheck for inspiring those bright young minds that are going to take over and run this country one day.

Hey hey hey hey HEY! I'm sorry that what I said was taken that way. I like walking around free as a bird because I obeyed copyright laws and didn't buy a bootleg. It would be even worse to broadcast a bootleg to a large group under the name of a organization that is a leader in the community. The last thing I want to see is Sigma Gamma Rho involved in a huge lawsuit over copyright infringement.
Basically, showing the movie at a voter registration drive would be more of a fantasy to show unregistered voters how serious the situation is, especially those who are indifferent to our situation. I guess if I mentioned showing a bootleg as a joke, I should have added "j/k" or some other disclaimer. durrrr Thanks for correcting that, sorors.
