T-Mobile
My contract with AT&T ends in 2 wks and I am planning on switching companies. There is a deal with T-Mobile I am looking at but I don't know anyone who has/had a contract with them. I asked one of my guy friends and he just says go for it Catherine Zeta-Jones is hot...because I pick my cell phone providers based on the looks of their spokesperson So if anyone has an useful insight it would be great. Any thoughts for or against the company?

I've been with them for a little over 2 years and it's been great for me. I've had to work with customer service a few times and they've been really helpful, no complaints.

T-Mobile is the American marketing name for Deutsche Telekom, formerly VoiceStream. They're currently undergoing some major expansion building and upgrading cell phone towers, especially in the Dallas and southern/central Virginia areas - I used to work for the company that designed cell towers for them.
Those I know who have T-Mobile are somewhat satisfied with their service.

I've had T-Mobile (well, first VoiceStream) for a few years now and been nothing but pleased with them.
When there was a weird bug with my voicemail when I first got my phone, I called customer service, was immediately transferred to a real human being, and we worked through the problem, which was fixed right there while I waited.
The fees are reasonable, although make sure if you want free nights that you specify that you want them. (Old VoiceStream plans had no nights designation -- minutes were minutes except on the weekends). I've been given 200 free minutes a month for 'loyalty' -- it's kinda groovy.
When I upgraded my phone, I got a $100 rebate as a real check, not just a crappy credit to my account.
I've gotten my roommate, his girlfriend, and two other friends of mine to use this company as well and they're all quite pleased.
*looks up at her post*
No, I do *not* work for T-mobile I'm just a firm believer in giving praise where it's due and I'm very satisfied with this company.

I don't like them. Their service hasn't covered me everywhere.

Personally, I have ATT and I don't know why! I hate them and their cruddy service (as in, lack of towers) and poor service I get when I need to speak with a person.
(/end rant)
I realize I offered you NO insight into TMobile but I made myself laugh... And I needed that today!! Thanks, sister!!

I have T-Mobile, and I've usually been happy with them. I wasn't happy with them when I spent a weekend in Oneonta, NY, with no cell phone coverage. And one of my favorite bars (The Gingerman) has terrible reception for T-Mobile inside, while other carriers seem to do well. Other than that, I was very happy when they let me pick a phone number that ends with "1852" as that's Phi Psi's year of founding.

T-MOBILE ROCKS!
no I don't work for them either, but I just LOVE them. No they don't cover every where, but they are expanding.
I've had the best customer service experience with them and I have my sister on my plan and no matter the problem, they always work with you to clear it and sometimes, they even apologize with extra minutes or something. And their rates are reasonable.

TMobile is great as long as you don't often venture into rural areas. If you are in a major metropolitan area, a decent sized city, or along a major highway, your coverage will be stellar. In case you ever decide to go overseas, get a GSM compatible phone and you can use it (albeit a bit expensively) from there. Also you can get the cool cellphones from overseas that we don't get for years afterward and your SIM card will work. TMobile is a decent deal and much less shady than other companies I've dealt with (those being Cingular and Sprint).

I love T-Mobile. Absolutely no complaints from me! Their customer service is quick & efficient! And I've never been in an area that T-Mobile didn't support (even if they do use other company's towers they don't charge you extra) & I've been to the eastern mountains of KY (if you've ever been there then you know what I'm talking about) w/ no problems!!!

Ditto about ATT and so cal coverage. I'm looking for a good CA based plan too. I had sprint when I first moved out and I couldnt get a connection in my new place so I always had to stand outside on the porch.
Looks like I'm not the only one that has had problems with AT&T. I swear I am on the phone with them every other month about some billing issue. My favorite, and most recent, was when they billed me for long distance for calls I made in VT. Keep in mind that i have free nationwide long distance and roaming. When I talked to the customer service rep he refused to back down, claiming no fault on AT&T's part and that my NATIONWIDE coverage didnt include VT. I loved how AT&T has redrawn our borders and apparently we only have 49 states

T-mobile does not work inside my apartment in the city (Detroit). I haven't always been satisfied with the # of bars I get, but I think they are working on the towers. Their customer service is very friendly and helpful. I had a problem with T-zone(internet connection) and they replaced my phone. That's a good thing because my phone cost me over $400.
Overall its a 7 out of 10

OMG!! *MY* latest complaint was also being charged LD! I no longer have Nationwide service, but I DID have free LD, until I went on Nationwide for 2 months due to travel. When they switched me back to Local service I got charged for LD! THEN they magnanimously offered to give me free LD (and reverse last month's LD charge) for signing up for anther year. That is EXACTLY what the guy told me 5 months ago when I switched from National to Local service.
Of course, I'm the idiot who stays with them.
Did I mention my company has a huge corporate relationship so I get a 20% discount? I wonder if that's worth the aggravation...
