What are you doing this summer?

Well folks,

I've spent this summer teaching 8th grade Civics and dealing with a lot of attitudes because they didn't pass the course during the regular school year and they need it to move on up to high school. However, I've also spent some of my leisure time doing the following:

Going to the Gym, going for long walks, and enjoying the following flicks: Garfield, Dodgeball, Spiderman II, Bourne Supremacy, and Catwoman. I must say that I've enjoyed all of them. Hey, the movies are a great way to get away from the real world and I'm not talking about the reality TV Show.

What have you good folks been doing at your leisure?

My Summer

After my 1st year of teaching, I went back to school for the summer! I took some masters level classes, vacationed in Colorado, learned some coaching tips at coaching clinic, had a blast with my best friend at Six Flags, worked a few volleyball camps, and spend time with my family and my new niece (3 months old!) And... spent some much needed "Quality Time" with my man! Whew...

I start back to work in a week, and I'm refreshed and ready to go. I hope all my lovely soRHOrs had an as wonderful summer as I have had.

As far as work, not a dam thing

I didn't work last summer either. At first I was a little disgusted with myself because I felt so lazy but then I thought how much I rip and run through the school year that I really need this time off. I literally tried to be in two places at the same time last December ( no kidding!) Both of my son's Christmas performances were at the same time. I dropped one off at the elementary school and the other at the middle school, stayed to see one performance and ran back to the other school just in time to catch the other. Sorry for the short story but I will probably do the same thing next summer too. Nothing!!

As far as a little fun I think I will head to Ocean City and maybe an amusement park later in the month. I feel a need to ride some serious roller coasters.

Sorhors Bluereign and ActionJackson4,

Summer is a great time to relax because we (educators) deserve that break. Soror ActionJackson4, it's always a good thing to get that MA in Ed., school counseling, Library science, etc. because it usally means that your pay raise, scale, and or step increase is going to be a nice one. I know that I'm planning on getting my second master's in library science or maybe becoming a reading specialist. Anyway, I hope that everyone continues to have an enjoyable, relaxing, and safe break.

I am happy to see all of y'all were doing great things this summer.

I'm one of the unfortunate few that's stuck looking for a decent job with benefits. Fortunately, I know I can continute substitute teaching, so I'm not distraught. Meanwhile, I'm working on myself inside and out, becoming more organized, and focusing in on my plans to enter the field of education. I've spent time with my family and friends and learned not to feel sorry for myself. Instead, I try to stay encouraged in all I'm trying to accomplish. I also made sure to do some community service, and I've decided that I want to do some service outside of Sigma service each and every month. It just makes you feel good throughout.

So basically, for anyone who's in the same rut, you might not be having a fantabulous summer, but you can make the best out of your situation. That's what I'm trying to do.
