Better word for retreat?

When people go on a "retreat" it sounds like they are running away...what is a better word for it?

There have a been a few ATO chapters that decided not to use retreat for the same reason. They used CHARGE instead.

In the military, they called it "encampment" but that sounds too..well, military to me.

I like the idea of "leadership weekend".

What an awesome topic!!!!!

Sisterhood Weekend

Diamond Days
Pearl Points
Saphire Saturday
MFF (Mandatory Family Function)
Leadership Camp

My chapter likes the word retreat though.
We have rush/recuitment retreat, and a sisterhood retreat and an officer retreat.

I just realized this is for a fraternity-sorry!
How about Sigma Chi Camp?
I REALLY liked Man Camp though, sounds so.......manly

The funny thing is, my home chapter prefers to call them retreats!

We like retreat too... I used to work for a co-ed company that used retreat for our Student Leader retreat where all of us in the organization who were in charge of various departments through our volunteer work with the organization, were taken out to DC for a retreat. It really felt like a "retreat" though since only 1 or 2 of the 50 or so of us there were actually from DC. We had people from all over the US at the retreat.

I don't know if any of these help, but for retreat on Thesaurus.com I came up with:

Entry: retreat
Function: noun
Definition: vacation
Synonyms: adytum, ark, asylum, blowout center, cell, cloister, convent, cover, covert, defense, den, habitat, harbor, haunt, haven, hermitage, hideaway, hiding place, hole, hole up, ivory tower, port, privacy, refuge, resort, retirement, safe house, safe place, sanctuary, seclusion, security, shelter, solitude
Concept: habitat entity

I've heard of some KKG chapters using Kappa Kampout for a retreat name.
