Greek representation good or bad?

Just a question for greeks in general from an outsiders point of view. Just wanted an honest opinion on things I see greeks do. A lot of people question the purpose of greeks because of the bad press you guys get. Not just from the pledge stories, but I don't see a lot of the values exhibited that these organizations were founded for. I sparsely see community service work and see a whole lot of showboating and beef between the frats and sororities when I thought everybody is for the same common cause. I know that there are bad apples in every basket and I know that every individual is responsible for there own actions. However, I thought that greek organizations chose individuals to represent the organization and brothers/sisters share the same valuse and are suppsoedly on one accord. However, I see fights over stuff like walking on each other plots, step shows, and even greeks taking nalia from each other. I myself have gave greek life a long hard look and am very interested but am sometimes discouraged when I see my friends who are in frats go through bull for just walking around with their letters on. As far as direction of greek life, where do you guys see it going. Originally, the black greeks were created as a positive outlet for black college students as they weren't accepted in the early 1900's. They were very proactive in the civil rights movements, but what now. I appreciate any feedback.

I apologize to all greeks if I have offended anyone but I was just seeking an honest opinion. I never expected any backlash. Really didn't think that the subject was that sensitive to where I would individuals would not want to speak on the matter. If there was anything wrong with what I said forgive me. I wonder if would be different if I were greek?
