Parting with clothing/shoes
So as I'm packing up my apartment... i'm trying to get rid of some stuff. I'm having HUGE issues throwing out shoes. It's making me sad.
Anybody have separation anxiety when getting rid of this stuff? Lol

Yes, so I donate clothes to charity. Or you can sell them on eBay if they are in good condition. If I am really attached to something, I keep it. It is hard to part with things I like. I am kind of a pack rat.

Solution:
Only move to a new place if the closets are bigger.

I swear, I've never realized how much clothing and shoes I own until I move. Then I swear I am not going to buy more and my wardrobe just seems to multiply. This reminds me I have a dresser and a closet I have to get rid of most of the clothing within.

I definitely do. Most of my clothes are pretty plain, and I have a lot of stuff I don't wear but I don't want to throw it out because I don't know if I'll want to wear it in the future. I mean I've got a pair of Chucks from the 8th grade that I still wear. Who knows when I'll need that blue t-shirt?

Before I went to Korea, I got rid of over 1/3 of my clothes/shoes. There was a piles of my clothes on my queen size bed about 2 feet high. I cried for hours as my friends picked through what they wanted. Then, I packed it all up and took them to the Salvation Army.
I will NEVER get rid of that much stuff again but sometimes you just have to.

All the time. Most things I wear once and some I still have tags on. I have so many clothes its not funny. I mean I never wear things cause I forget I have them, but when it comes time to do some spring cleaning, I find a reason to keep everything.
Esp shoes. Oh no you aint taking my shoes. Unless they are broken I am keeping them. I dont care if I have 5 shoes all in black, leave them alone lol......
I wont get rid of purses at all unless they are way old and way out of style or broken. I spend WAY too much on them.

I too am a packrat, lol. It annoys my husband to no end. I have way way way too much clothing. A lot of it is too big, too small, an ugly color (what was I thinking??), and/or out of style, but can I get rid of it? Of course not! The big clothes will come in handy if I get pregnant, I'll fit into the small clothes again once I've lost some weight, those oversized sweatshirts and leggings I wore in the 80s might come back into fashion... the excuses are endless.
ktsnake, I figured that part out for myself... there are many closets in my house... most of them full of my clothes.

Why don't you throw it all into a huge garbage bag and deal with it later?

I have 3 FULL DRAWERS of t-shirts...and I can't seem to part with any of them because they all have meaning...letters, snowball, choir festivals, voulenteer events, vacations....
I did manage to get rid of 3 huge bags of clothes when I moved here to NC.
