Online sales beware list
Hi folks~
There was one of these a couple months ago, but it's been lost in the long list of older threads...
If you've had bad experiences with online vendors/auctions/etc, please add them here-- as the school year's going to start back up (and we'll have PNM's looking for places to purchase things), it's definitely a good way to help everyone out.
I've recently had a horrid experience with an ebay seller called "greaks," who sells signs and bumper stickers-- I paid immediately upon the end of the auction for a sticker. I was charged $1.50 for shipping (plus "fees, handing, returns, and supplies"), which I figured was no big deal because it was an odd-sized window sticker. But to my shock a week later I received the sticker folded sloppily in a small-sized envelope with a 37 cent stamp on it (and it doesn't sit quite flat on my window now). When I left neutral feedback, I was left negative in return.
Beware, folks.

One guy (greek4sale) messed up my address and so UPS charged him $5 and he tried to say I owed him...
It was a $1.25 item and I paid more then the item in shipping anyway...plus, he wanted me to just send him $5 on paypal...sorry, not doing that without an invoice/proof/reciept.

Ebay won't do jack.
You can't really complain about the shipping price if you knew it before buying. Yeah it sucks, big time.
Though it did arrive not in the condition it was stated to be in (didn't mention a crease), you may be able to file a non performing seller with ebay on him, but it won't really do anything.
Did you pay by paypal? If so, you can complain to them that the item is not in the condition it was stated to be in and you may get some recourse.

I almost purchased something from "greaks" before but I always read the feedback first. Greaks is incredibly childish & will leave negative feedback for anyone that complains even slightly about him. He does this so that he can convince the buyer to agree to withdraw the feedback altogether.
I don't think I want to put my money in the hands of someone so childish.

Unfortunately no... ebay (and paypal) won't do anything since it's such a low-level item. I did try to use SquareTrade (or whatever their mediation thing is), but they're pretty worthless, too.
But I figure the best way to stop the person is to use good old-fashioned word of mouth. The Greek community is the group he's selling to, after all.

A seller called "americanaquarium" just listed a pearl ZTA badge and chapter guard for $105.00.
He had responded to me via e-mail for a post I had listed on an "orphan jewelry" site looking for ZTA badges. I made him an offer for this same badge, but I am guessing he is too greedy and so instead of ever responding to my e-mails, he listed it on e-bay for way too much money.
If anyone ever trys to buy from him, watch out. He seems a little slick to me.
He has another ZTA badge with pearls and emeralds (6, on the points) that he has not listed yet or replied to my e-mails for. I made him 2 offers on this. He was super quick on the e-mails until I set a dollar amount on the table, then nothing. Not even a reply that an offer was too low. Nada.
He has 8 different badges listed right now on e-bay.
