Hey there Check out our national website at www.tridelta.org. On the right hand side click on "alum in action" (or something similar) and then click on search for an alumni group (also on the right). You can seach by state, and then look for your particular city. This group will be made up of alumnae who reside in your area but may have been members of other chapters of Tri Delta. Contact this group and I am sure that they would be happy to meet with you.

On a side note, I would really encourage you to go through formal recruitment and meet all of the NPC sororities on your campus if this is possible. If you are already planning on doing this, good for you! Don't go in with preconceived notions of "the house for you." You may meet a different house and be pleasantly surprised! Whatever you decide, have a blast and keep us updated!

That's a good idea . But would that work with colonies as well? Tri-Delta is colonizing at my school, and I'm wondering if it's appropriate to contact the local alum chapter. They might play a big role in the colonization process.

Hey Jupiter,
If Tri Delta is colonizing at your school, the process may be slighly different because recruitment for a colony is unique. I would start by finding out from your school's greek affairs office what the timeline and process will be for recruitment into the new colony. You may be able to ask greek affairs about how to handle or procure recommendations. You should also ask them about whom they should be sent to.
To answer your question, I don't think it would hurt to contact local alumni for a recommendation, once you know when you will need it and who it can be sent to. I am sure that the local alumni are busy helping with the colony, but I think they will be excited to see that girls are showing a strong interest in Tri Delta and having the foresight to seek a recommendation from an alumna. Be polite and understanding about the fact that the alums may be very busy, especially with the new colony.
If there is any concern that providing you with a recommendation is in any way "inappropriate," I am sure that they will let you know if there is a problem. However, I think that is unlikely, since finding great girls with sincere interest is an important part of building a successful colony.

Thanks a ton HelloKitty! I have visited the campus Greek Affairs office, but they do not have a timeline for the colonization. They actually told me to contact the Tri-Delta headquarters. We currently do not have a Director of Greek Affairs at the moment, so I think this has put a damper on things. However, I will defintely contact the local alum chapter. Thank you again!
