So, what exactly do you do on Canada Day? Is it kinda like the 4th of July here?

Not really. It's more low key.

I kind of miss the "Freedom Festival" in Detroit which celebrated Canada Day (was it called Dominion Day then, or am I thinking of another holiday?) and July 4th together way back when I lived there.
Happy Birthday, Canada. You've been a good friend and great ally.
(Funny, it just struck me that my Fraternity, and others are older than Canada)

Yes, but there are loads of people working today to get tommorrow off for a long weekend! (case in point - me!)
Happy Canada Day to all Greeks that are Canadian or American brothers and sisters who went Greek up north here!

Was going to see the fireworks at Wonderland, but decided to come home. I'm not an amusement park kind of person, and I'm still a little motion sick from the rides.
ETA: When I was little my family and I would always go to Queen's Park for cheap hot dogs and birthday cake. We stopped going when I was about 10 or 11. Some of my friends are up at their cottages doing the whole barbeque and fireworks

I had a very cool Canada day. I spent it at DPhiE convention, in San Antonio. We had an awards brunch that morning and there were Canadian flags, pins and red and white beads on all the tables!
That night a few of us Canadians and one of our American sisters went out for dinner and then went on the River boat ride along the San Antonio River.
