Lil' Sis Poem

Hi, all! I have a quick question -

As part of our big/little sis program and our Arrowdays, all of the bigs find a poem for their little and frame it for them. I love the poems that my big sis gave to me, but I want to find a new poem for my little. I was hoping that someone on here might have a nice friendship, sisterhood, or Pi Phi poem that I could use. Although I am an English major, I'm not a "poetry person", so I definitely need some help. Thanks!

May I assume that you've already given her the Pi Phi Symphony? That's what my Big gave me the beginning of Inspiration Week-- I still have it (with the frame she decorated) handing above my desk!.

A good resource that I used when I was CPP (and always ended my letters to chapters with an inspirational poem) was the "Angels Little Instruction Book". If you look in the inspirational section (where they have all the "Chicken Soup" books), you'll find lots of small, inexpensive poetry books. Another good resource is the Bible-- read Psalms (especially the KJV). The poetry is beautiful!!

Board crashing...

Here is one that I'm quite fond of...

Sisters By Heart

It seems we just connected
Right from the start,
Meant to be-naturally,
Sisters by heart.
And though we don't share parents
As real sisters do,
Growing in my family tree
Is a special branch for you.
A time-tested kinship
In which God plays a part,
Through talks and laughter, sorrow and dreams
Of sisters by heart.

we have family poems that we pass down. Mine's kind of strange. Here it is:

Today I met a great new friend
Who knew me right away
It was funny how she understood
all I had to say

She listened to my problems
She listented to my dreams
We talked about love and life
She'd been there too it seemes

I never once felt judged by her
She knew just how I felt
She seemed to just accept me
And all the problems I'd been dealt.

She didnt' interrupt me
Or need to have her say
She just listened very patiently
And didn't go away.

my poem

Hey ladies,
I wrote this when I was notified that Caroline picked me as her big..I was so excited!!!
'The Road'
I know of a road paved with wine and silver blue,
It's walked by the likes of angels, whose hearts are tried and true.
The toll that you pay is one of devotion,
Devotion is an arrow which the founders set in motion.
The path of the arrow is the road of wine and blue,
You too will walk this road, and I will walk with you.

I know it's a little silly to reply to my own post, but since it got bumped, I wanted to add something....

I used a poem someone posted on GC for my little (thanks, everyone!), but during Senior Farewell Week, I needed a poem for my big sis. She and I are really, really close, so it needed to be special. I was bored while studying in the library one night, and started mousing around in the library.... To make a long story short, I found a great book called "Big Sister and Little Sister" by Charlotte Zolotow. During Senior Week, all the littles read their poems (or in my case, stories) to their senior bigs in front of the whole house, and when I read that story, not only was I crying so hard I could hardly finish it, but when I finished, we had to take a break to pass the tissues around the whole room!

Anyway, if anyone is looking for something for their big sis, this story is a beautiful thing to give to them.
