Strip Clubs Unite For Kerry
Quote:
Strip club owners register voters for Kerry
Tuesday, May 25, 2004
By The Leader-Chicago Bureau
CHICAGO -- Illinois strip club owners met on Tuesday to plan for a statewide voter registration drive similar to a thrust now taking place in Wisconsin and other Midwestern states.
Fearing conservatives could shut down their $15 billion businesses, strip club owners throughout the nation are asking patrons to fill out voter registration forms and support U.S. Senator John Kerry (D-MA) for president.
Angelina Spencer, Executive Director of the Association of Club Executives, told IllinoisLeader.com that representatives from the Illinois' 72 sexually-oriented businesses were joining together to register voters and encourage their patrons to vote for Senator John Kerry for president.
Since the nationally-televised exposure of singer Janet Jackson's breast during the Super Bowl half time show, the Bush Administration has moved to clamp down on indecency on the nation's airwaves. Spencer and her colleagues are concerned that their businesses may be endangered if Bush is re-elected in November.

Gee, that really makes me want to vote for him.
Gotta love ethics.

I can see where they're coming from.
I don't think the Bush camp is too worried.

can you elaborate on the ethics comment? maybe it's the hangover, but i don't quite understand it.

Lapdances for Kerry
Does this mean that we'll see Kerry fundraisers at Pure Platinum or Scores?

It just seems a little unethical/immoral to have an endorsement from such an establishment. I know that's an opinion that will vary from person to person, but if I was considering Kerry, that would be really deter me from wanting to support him. I just think the President should be a little more dignified - of course, he may not want that type of endorsement, who knows?

I don't think he went seeking their endorsement though. Just because a group chooses to endorse him, that doesn't mean he agrees with what they do or think.

Sorry, sis, but this is where we disagree.
I'd rather see a presidental candidate endorsed by strippers than see one endorsed by huge oil/gas companies, or "big tobacco". Odds are, strippers won't have the influence to effect our lives, and the choices that said candidate might make in office as other options might.
Plus, I like the idea of a group of women who work their a**es off for their money (pun intended) making a political stand.

Althogh I don't care for Kerry and will most likely vote for Bush, I have to appreciate this also. This is an election that might get voter turnout that hasn't happened in a long time.
