Iacocca Changes Support From Bush to Kerry

SAN JOSE, Calif. - Four years after former Chrysler Corp. chairman Lee Iacocca cut ads supporting George W. Bush's election, he's switching alliances to presidential challenger John Kerry
Iacocca decided to announce his endorsement in person at a Kerry speech Thursday on creating high-tech industry jobs in Silicon Valley.

Iacocca, 79, gained a reputation as a champion of innovation within the automotive industry. He oversaw the development of the Ford Mustang in the 1960s and later the minivan and electric vehicles while at Chrysler Corp. He is the chairman and founder of EV Global Motors Co., a Los Angeles-based firm that designs electronic bicycles.

In a television ad that aired in Michigan during the 2000 campaign, Iacocca criticized Democratic presidential candidate Al Gore (news - web sites) on automotive issues, contending that Gore's environmentally "extreme ideas" could cost autoworkers their jobs.

Iacocca retired as chairman of Chrysler Corp. in 1992. He was president of Ford Motor Co. before joining financially ailing Chrysler in 1978.

He's irrelevant then, isn't he?

A 79-year-old ex-CEO really has the pulse of America. Good thing for him though, if Kerry is elected, most of Iacocca's money is offshore and protected from the taxes that will certainly be going waaay up.

Someone added together what all of Kerry's campaign promises (so far) will cost and the figure was something like 1.7 trillion. I'd really love to hear where that statement came from, but if there's any truth to it, hide all your money.

I love people who see things in ideals. They act as if some politicians really care about them and their suffering. Everyone wants to get paid. You switch parties to get paid more. It has nothing to do with one person being right or wrong, it has to do with covering your own ass.

Not only that, but the biggest concern I have right now is Kerry's promise to create 10 MILLION new jobs while President. First of all, how? This cannot be a mandate to force private companies to hire people because they're told to....it has to be in response to business needs. So, will these be gov't jobs (IOW, even more taxes so we get to pay their salaries?). Secondly, recent unemployment reports show us standing at 5.6 or 5.7%, which is basically a saturated economy, meaning if you want to work, you CAN find it. He wants to have more jobs than employees, the way I see it. It just smells of too much government oversight...

Nah, it just smells like Kerry. The man has proven over and over again that he will say ANYTHING to appeal to whoever is listening to him at the moment. He doesn't seem to care if what he is saying is fact or fiction. That worries me.

I know that's why I'm voting for him.
