Interesting Run-in
i meant to post this when it happened, but i totally forgot. this occured right around the time of anchor splash this year (april). i was in mcdonald's with my boyfriend in roxboro, nc and this older couple was behind us. the man sat the woman down in a booth and got behind us in line. i was wearing my anchor splash tee shirt and after i ordered he turned to me and said, "i married a '38 delta gamma." well, i just thought that was the sweetest thing ever and it just about brought tears to my eyes because he had to have been in his upper eighties. well, he never actually noted that the woman he was with was the DG that he had married, so i didn't ask any questions. but when we were leaving, i waved good-bye to him (the woman who was with him went to the bathroom). when i waved, he said, "she's in the bathroom...she should be coming out soon." as soon as he said this, his wife was coming out. so i walked up to her and introduced myself and let her know that i was with the NCSU chapter. she had obviously been following us because she knew that we were new. she told me that she was a DG at purdue. i had to run, but i told her it was very nice to meet her and that it made my day. i was just blown away because i had met one of my sisters that was old enough to be my grandmother. when i got in the car with my boyfriend, i told him, "see, if you marry a delta gamma, then you live forever!"

I think that those are the run-ins that are meant to happen and that are the most memorable!!!
About two weeks ago, I was at the bank wearing a DG/FIJI luau shirt and the woman making my transaction looked up and saw Delta Gamma on my shirt and said, "You're a DG? so am I!" She was from Epsilon at Ohio State and she is one of the ladies that normally helps me so I just thought that it was neat.
eta: to include my story!

yay for delta gammas! please, everybody post encounters of unexpected dg run-ins. it's exciting to know that there are much more of us out there.
actually, this person isn't a dg, but she's in alpha delta gamma. i am methodist and each summer we have a seminary student from duke university come as like, an intern type thing. well, the interns are always a few years older and the old people in the church are the ones who always get to know them. well, this year, we got a girl (2nd in a row!) and i noticed last night at bible school that she had greek letters on, but i couldn't really tell what they were. so afterwards i asked her what she was in and she told me. then i found out she was the same age as me and that she was in 4-H when she was younger like me! we just stood around and chatted forever last night and i was so excited cause there was somebody else who was greek in my small little town. (even though she's not from my town) yay for greeks!
much love and delta glam! -beth

Mine's not too exciting, but I was at Preakness a few weeks ago, and there were a whole bunch of UDel fraternities and sororities that had rented buses and came down. They all had t-shirts made, and I was there with some of my chapter sisters, and they mentioned "the DGs are wearing the yellow shirts" so later on a pack of yellow shirts walked by. I stopped them and talked to them for a bit, they were very nice young ladies.
