want to travel to NYC next year...but need help!!
Some of y'all know that I spent spring break in NYC with my college's choir, and we sang in Carnegie Hall. Well I totally fell in love with the city, and I desperately want to go back! I've already recruited one who will go too, and I think 2 more will come.
Thing is I'm kinda clueless about travel help. The two trips I've taken without family (one to Michigan for SAI convention, and the NYC trip) were planned by others and all I had to do was go.
Mainly, I want to know where the best place to go online to get good deals on airfare and hotels. There's all those places like priceline.com and cheaptickets.com but I don't know if any of them are any good.
Sooo, if anyone could please help me, I would so appreciate it!!

K yep it DOES seem cheaper!
Next question: hotels. Which ones would any of you recommend? We'd live to be in the middle of the city. When we went last time we stayed in the Grand Hyatt, and loved it, but it may be out of our price range. Any other suggestions?

GPhiBLtColonel turned me onto www.studentuniverse.com and I've been fairly happy with it.

*BUMP*
K I still need hotel recommendations, if anyone knows any.
--What are good, midtown hotels that are affordable?
--Which ones are NOT good?
I'll take any and all recommendations. I'm searching out ways to make this as cheap as possible. So keep that in mind! Thanks!!

Define affordable. I don't think that any midtown hotels are affordable by my definition.

Admittedly, I haven't stayed at the Super 8 Manhattan/Times Square Area since it became a Super 8 (it used to be the Quality Hotel and Suites) but it's in a good location (a half block from the 47-50th St/Rockefeller Center subway stop, from which you can also get into Rockefeller Center, walking distance to Times Square and theaters, and there's a 24-hour deli and 24-hour McDonalds around the corner) and the rates aren't bad. I have been able to get some great deals there...last time I stayed there I paid under $100/night for a room.

I agree. The cheapest in mid-town and in Western Queens where I live is around $100+tax a night. Nicer hotels in Manhattan are twice and even 3x that if you want to go all out. NYC is not inexpensive at all even for vacationing. Sairose, when you visit, look me up, i'll meet you out

LOL yeah I know from my first trip there, not cheap at all. I guess when I said affordable, I meant affordable by NYC standards.
Yes, if I could find somewhere decent for 100 or a little over, that would be great!
