Lightbulb All Greek Yearbook?

The other thread (greekyearbook) got me thinking about an All Greek campus yearbook containing composites for each chapter and events throughout the year with categories like Philanthropies, Formals, Brotherhood/Sisterhood Events, Recruitment, IFC/Panhel Programs, etc.

Has anyone's campus ever done this or considered doing this? I think it would be such a cool thing to have!

nah, my school does half a page for each sorority...they are trying to diminish our importance, although your idea sounds like a good one...

My school did this. The Greek Legend--was way better than the regular yearbook.

What company did your school use for the all greek yearbook?Sounds like an awesome idea. No one buys the regular school yearbook because it would be pointless to buy a yearbook of people you dont know. If it was all greeks im sure the yearbooks would be extremely popular.

Ours was called Glory Days. How many pages you got was based on the number of copies ordered by your chapter. It was affectionately known as "The Menu."

actually, most yearbooks don't put that much of greeks because they can't get any info from them because we're all told not to comment to the press.

its kind of hard to give a group more than half a page when you can't get quotes, and have to take info from their websites.
i know our yearbook we currently are putting three sororities/fraternities to a page cause they dont let us take pics at events or get interviews.

back on subject...

as someone totally into making yearbooks, i think this sounds like a really cool idea.

I put in for some quotes on prices so I will let you guys know what companies and the prices so maybe other campuses will want to do it. I dont even know if my campus wants to yet! lol i just want to get prices so that i will know what to say to them. I think soft cover yearbooks would be a good way to keep prices low yet still get color pictures. I know elementary schools have them and they are around $5-$19.

I was thinking about it, and u probably cant put composite pictures in there because they are all done by different companies...? Does anyone know how that works?

Don't college yearbooks still send a form to every organization (including Greeks) telling them where to show up for a group picture, at the very least? We actually used to have a competition where the GLO who raised the most money got extra candid shots in the yearbook.

I don't really consider photos in a yearbook of Greek Week, etc the same as talking to "the press" - if your HQ is instructing you to freeze your college yearbook out, that's way too harsh or (more likely) a misinterpretation by someone.

I think ours was really low tech -- the Glory Days chair would cut the pix out of the composite and lay them out on a layout page and that is how the pix were done. We actually had the same composite company for everyone on the row though, so everyone's pix looked uniform in the book. They were soft cover and had very few color pages. I think we paid about 10 or 15 dollars for them back in the early-mid 90s.

I happen to work for a yearbook company, so if you'd like any tips, let me know! This is something we approached a university near me to do (they don't have an all-school yearbook, but they have a large Greek system). They didn't go for it, but I think it's a fantastic idea! Selling ads to businesses, parents, etc. is a great way to draw up some revenue to fund the book, too. Good luck!
