Just saw it on CNN. Who is next?

He probably should have been gone a long time ago.
I can't really blame him though. A lot of crap going his way. He'll do much better for himself and his family in the civilian sector.

I wonder if it really is personal a reason or because of all the 9/11 critics and investigation.
Probably both but probably Tenet and Bush truely will ever know.

I don't see a reason for him to leave other than politics but whatever. He's another guy from Queens and I'm sorry to see him go.

Might be the pressure he's under after 9/11, alleged CIA officers involved in the Iraq prison situation, alleged bad info regarding WMD's, failure to get Osama and a lot of other stuff.
Or, maybe he's the one who has been chosen to fall on his sword for some or all of the above.
That would be enough to make me look at career changes.

Senator Charles Schumer, Democrat of New York, called Mr. Tenet "an honorable and decent man who has served his country well in difficult times, and no one should make him a fall guy for anything."
He also received a bit of anger from Republicans. Regardless, he was appointed by Bill Clinton and became a close friend of President Bush.
When he left, Tenet endorsed President Bush.

Here are possible, I repeat, possible reasons given by stratfor on why Tenet resigned:
Quote:
1. Chalabi connection: CIA leaked a story that Chalabi had compromised a NSA operation that had broken Iranian codes. The target of this leak was DOD than Chalabi, in particular, Wolfowitz. The president thought this was a leak-too-far as he clearly is not going to clean out the DOD, so Tenet was fired. Or, Tenet disgusted that the president was not going to clean out the DOD, resigned.
2. Valeria Plame: Bush has hired a lawyer in connection with this case. While not proving anything, it does not create a good impression. Tenet, aware that the Justice department investigation was moving towards Bush, confronted Bush on this. Again, Tenet was either fired or resigned as a result.
3. President is cleaning house but, as is typical of this administration, is doing so in an awkward and uncoordinated way. Instead of turning the page, it is just creating more speculation.

ETA: Just found out James Pavitt, deputy director for operations, also resigned.
