How do you know when you've met "THE ONE"
I hear people say this all the time too......for someone who is 110% single, I know I've definately not met "THE ONE" yet, but for those of you who have, how did you know when you met "THE ONE". You hear people say all the time "I knew when I first laid eyes on him that he was the one" but I don't know if I buy that.

*was sooo going to post this same topic *
I knew Dusty was "the one" when we first met, I was so doing un-Kayla like things. I had just broke up w/my ex of 2 years and met Dusty 2 weeks later. I was completely floored by him. I can't really explain my reasoning, it's just the feeling I got
He just told me last week when he knew I was "the one". Note, we've been dating for almost 3 years and now he decides to tell me... Anyway, he told me that he knew when I was the one on our first date! He had looked over at me when I was smiling over at him and he said that he just seen me w/the veil on. *happy sigh* It had freaked him out a bit because we had just started dating, but he knew I was the way to go

I don't know if I agree of disagree. When I met my husband, I didn't know he would be the one. I knew he was a nice guy and he made me laugh but I was still a little weary about him. It wasn't until we had been dating for a couple of months that I realized that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with him.
However he claims that he knew before he asked me on a date that he would marry me.

I think you only know at the end of your life. Hindsight is a bitch and Irony rules the universe.
There are a lot of shoulds and woulds wrapped up in the "one" concept. I think a lot of people end their lives realizing it wasn't the one. At best maybe they married someone they would have been better off as friends with.

I am by nature a cynic plus I'm not sentimental or mushy. But I knew Mr. KR was THE ONE when I'd hear love songs on the radio and instead of thinking, "ewww; how dumb", I'd think how true they were.

I've got to agree with James on this one. I get SO sick of people running around talking about how they're in love and they've found "THE ONE" - just to see them break up or get divorced a week, a month, a year or a decade later. And then they try to deny that they ever thought it was the one. Give me an f-ing break...

I don't believe there is a "The One", although I used to believe it. I think there are many who you fall in love with and can decide to commit to. At that point, you can only hope that the person doesn't change drastically, remains as committed to you as you are to him/her, makes the relationship a priority, etc. You CHOOSE to make that person the one and work hard at it, and hopefully they will make that same committment and work just as hard at it to make it last over time. Then, as James said, in hindsight, you were know that you had a successful intimate relationship that you built together.

Co-sign. I have a family member like that--she goes literally from wedding planning to not even wanting the poor guy mentioned by name. I guess that's what happens when you limit your dating scene to one website...
I am very wary to say that any significant other has been "the one." Had I said that the first time I felt like it, I would be a very very unhappy woman today, because said guy turned out to be a jacka$$. 6 years later, I have no idea if he's dead or alive.

Yeah, pretty much. I've met guys I really dig, some a lot more than others, but I don't think I've met "The One." You've got to wonder, though...what if there really isn't just one, you know? There could be three, or ten, or forty...
