Cars you've owned
I'm not sure if theres already a thread about this, but I was wondering what types of cars you've all owned.. And why you got rid of it. (crash, age, lottery, sugar daddy)
- 96 Dodge Stealth Twin Turbo (Got this car against my mom's wishes - Thanks dad! - when I was 15ish... Got rid of it just after I turned 16 because it kept having expensive problems..
- 99 Mazda Millenia - Traded old car in on this.. I was probably 16 1/2.. Loved this car, but I totaled it in bad weather not too long ago.
- 2002 Explorer Sport - Bought this with insurance money... Its a nice change. I've had it for about 2 months now (I'm almost 19 now)
Thats about it... I hope the explorer will hold up for a while. Its gotta last me through college.
Your turn.
-Matt

Learned to drive in a 96 Ford Taurus
My first car was an 88 Plymouth Sundance (I called her Rosie, but "Satan" would have been more appropriate)
When I left for college I got a 97 Mazda Protege, "Rice Rocket"
For Christmas (2002) I got a 97 Ford Escort. Promptly totalled it.
I drove a 96 Civic for awhile, until this past August when I bought a 94 Accord.
I have driven far too many cars.

1989 Chevorlet Blazer S-10 4x4, 4.3L -- great car. Was my dad's old car. I drove it to about 140K miles, then got a new car. Kept the S-10 though to use as a hand-me-down to my little brother.
1995 Toyota 4-Runner. I got this thing in 1999 at 60K miles. Was a decent car until early 2003 when I took it in to have something checked and found it needed $2500 worth of "routine maintenance". It was over 120K miles at this point so I traded it in.
2003 Honda Element. So far the ideal car for me. Great car decent gas mileage, huge on the inside.

1994 Pontiac Grand Prix was my first car. It was hot, I loved it...drove it from the time I was 16 until it got evil when I was 20. The alternator broke three times and the Prix drove me into a tree.
Now I have a 99 Toyota Solara and it is my child!!! I never want another car, unless its a new Solara Convertible

1995 Ford Probe: got this when I was 15 because my dad insisted on me learning to drive on stick shift. Fast, fun, absolutely loved this car. BUT, apparently it was a magnet to other cars because I came within 100 bucks of totaling it TWICE within the first 4 months of having my liscence.
1996 Ford Exploder/Explorer: Parents made me sell the Probe and get something bigger since I had a tendency towards accidents, so I bought this piece of crap for 3000 bucks off the guy next door. It worked most of the time for about 2 years and then my parents decided that me driving it back and forth 350 miles each way to school was a bad idea when it almost exploded on I-75. Lots of fun, let me tell ya.
1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo (aka Jesse the Jeep): was my mom's but she bought a Ford Escape so she gave it to me after the Exploder incident. I love it!! It is my first car with less than 100k miles and the transmission isn't threatening to fall out the bottom which is a definite improvement over the last!

1994 Pontiac Sunbird--the cheapest car GMC ever made, and it was obvious, too. The thing was a piece of crap. I had to beg for two years to get rid of it.
1996 Pontiac Firebird--my current car. While I was begging to get rid of the aforementioned Sunbird, I was begging for the Firebird. She was a little older than what I had originally wanted (and I really wanted a Trans Am), but I've since realized that this little silver car has a personality all of her own, and I love her more than anything. Even though she does start pouting about once every three months and gets sick in some way so she can have attention! (Yes, I am obsessed with my car. I wrecked her last February, and I cried for two weeks and drove the people at the shop crazy until I finally got her back.)

I got my driver's license (and first car) last May. Actually my uncle gave me the car in April but wouldn't let me have it until I learned to drive and got my license, which took me 2 months.
The car is a 1985 VW Cabriolet and I love it -- it's a cute little car with stick shift, CD player, and best of all, convertible. It's in really great condition with only like 20,000 miles on it, because my uncle's had it since it was new and he didn't drive it that much.
However, it doesn't have power steering, which can be a real pain sometimes, so his name is Persnickety.
