Theories concerning Nick Berg's death

I've seen a number of websites and journalists speculating that Berg's death isn't exactly what it was made to look like.

I haven't watched the video so I can't weigh in on that. But I've read a number of the websites that bring up a lot of unanswered questions, and if what they're saying is legitimate, it does seem pretty shady.

I'm not big on conspiracy theories, so I think I'm going to have to reject the idea that Berg's death was faked by the CIA. Personally I feel that if the CIA was going to do something like this, they would have done a better job of it. But I don't think I can take the tape at face value either. Even CNN, a legitimate news network and not just some online conspiracy nut with a blog, had a expert who studied Middle Eastern cultures and languages who said that the man in the video did not sound like al-Zarqawi (he had an accent that was not Jordanian). There's a lot pointing towards the killer not being al-Zarqawi . . . but if so, then who was it?

There's also quite a bit that points towards the fact that Berg was actually dead at the time of his beheading, and it was faked to look like he was still alive.

Here's a website that covers some of the major discrepancies. He does point fingers at the US for Berg's death, but if you ignore that, it still brings up some questions:

It's funny that you should post this. Some lady I know sent out the positively tackiest e-mail saying that Berg's death was faked by the CIA/FBI/Homeland Security to garner sympathy for the American cause in Iraq. She provided "evidence" that there's no way that this could have been done by Iraqis, blah blah. It made me sick. Nevermind that this poor man lost his life.
With any seriously traumatic event there's always conspiracy theories abounding. I'm not sure what to believe anymore. What matters is this man was killed and someone very sick is responsible.

I thought this was fascinating reading! Mr. KR pretty much blew off the idea but I think it could possibly have some merit; who knows? Very interesting, though.

While you can poke holes in many of the arguements presented in the "article" it does bring up something that did bother me a little.... When I first saw the whole video with some of the guys from the house we all noticed that he started to scream earlier than the visual showed, and he didn't seem to resist; unfortunately the video qualtity is so bad it's hard to really examine it.

Oh... and all of the guys said that Al Queda wasn't mentioned, but "al qued"(sp?) which means the one or ones sitting. Contextually the speaker was asking others to rise up and stop sitting around doing nothing... or so the guys translated.

Scary article. Just a few thoughts-certainly not the most important.

however in the video the culprits who killed him said they were "avenging iraqi prisoner abuse" but those photos weren't released until last week, so my question is how is that even a possible motive if he was killed prior to the abuse photos being released??

On THIS point, Though the photos weren't released to the media, enough people knew they existed. This was not a secret to everyone...just most of America.

Berg seems limp just before the beheading. It is not clear if he was moving after the time skip in the tape. While on the ground, Berg's body didn't seem move except in response to the captors movements
Beheading could have been an after thought for shock value.
Dead is dead. It would be a blessing if he WAS dead prior to that act.

Al-Zarqawi's face is very well-known. If Al-Zarqawi was the perpetrator, why did he bother to cover it the whole time?
Good question-Bin Ladan doesn't mind showing his face.

The FBI interviewed Nick Berg about Moussaoui's use of his e-mail account to send "emails" but concluded that it was entirely "coincidental." This has been REALLY bothering me.

I don't know what to think, but there is something really unsettling about this. There's more to him than meets the eye.

I agree. But I don't know what it is either. Just strange.

Why was he in the same type prison jumper that he would have been wearing while in custody of the American military?

IF all those points are true, wow. There are definitely some oddities that are hard to explain. I will wait to hear more info before making any judgments.

Perhaps they were trying to send a visual message about the abuse of Iraqi detainees.....

On that note, CBC & BBC have both reported that 4 "Saddam Loyalists" were detained today for allegded involvement in Berg's death...

Of course FOX reported it was "Al Queda operatives"

Why argue about it? Did his body come back to the US? If so, did it have a head or not?

Individuals from Fox news just need to blow me daily so that I can take their non-partisan reports more seriously.

Oh you guys give me a BREAK! CNN is far, FAR worse than FOX when it comes to a "fair" slant on reporting. Liberals are just griping because now the more conservative people have a channel to turn to. Besides that, CNN has been spewing their slant much longer than FOX. Liberals are just more noisy.

What? That CNN is more slanted or Liberals are more noisy?

Ah DA, sometimes I feel like we are BOTH trying to convert the "sinners"!
