Lionel and Nichole Richie on Oprah

I saw Lionel on Paula Zahn's show on FoxNews. During this interview, he claimed that Nichole was NOT on heroin. He claims when she was arrested, the heroin was not hers. He says she was addicted to pain killers. However, I hear on the promo where Oprah asks Nichole about "snorting" heroin. Okay, which is it?

Also, I hear Oprah asking Nichole about the "affair". I wonder if Brenda will be in the audience?


Boy, Lionel is pulling all the STOPS for THIS comeback.

Remember when his first wife beat him and his next ex to be...I wonder if they are going to talk about that I might watch it. But old girl sure is asking for a lot. Maintance, alimony, the works. Girl, he HAS to build up his image and I bet his PR peeps are working overtime.

I think so. I think I heard on the radio promo where Oprah asks Nichole if she knew about the affair. I"m sure she's speaking of her soon to be ex-step mom. Maybe they are going to correlate what she went through with that mess to her use of drugs. She's adopted, so I'm sure that played a part in her "issues".

I was wondering if that was his biological child. I thought perhaps it was one of his ex's and he gave her his name.

Nicole was adopted when she was very little by Brenda and Lionel. Apparently she was the child of one of his band members.

Her biological father is Peter Michael Escovedo III. He was a percussionist in Richie's touring band. Another tidbit~He's Sheila E's brother.

Do you know if she still has a relationship with her biological parents? I read somewhere that she was biracial-Black and White.

What is she..21..22 at best? What the heck is she doing taking painkillers?? What was she doing numbing the pain of all the heroin she was taking??

Not sure. However, she knows who her real parents are, so perhaps. They were reunited (poor choice of words) on the Wayne Brady Show awhile back (he's the bandleader). Apparently, they discussed it on the show.

Here's the deal:

According to Nicole and Lionel on the show:

He and Brenda were backstage at a Purple Rain show. There was this adorable girl wandering about. She wasn't really supervised, but she was JUST there. Her parents or one of them was in Prince's band/entourage at the time. We all know Sheila E was the opening act for that tour.

Brenda and Lionel became Nicole's foster parents, if you will. This was when Nicole was 4. It wasn't until 8 that they officially adopted her. Nicole didn't mention who her biological parents were.

Lionel mentioned that Diane soon to be ex-wife #2 only made a "wish list" if you will. She is asking for what was published, but she will not get it.

Nicole is 21 or 22. I forgot which one she said.

She explained that when Lionel and Brenda split it was BAD! She in fact had to become the "parent" because Brenda must have gone through a depression. She said that Brenda wouldn't get out of bed. Instead of dealing with the divorce of her parents, she had to become Brenda's parent. She said she knew that Lionel was having the affair, "everyone knew" according to Nicole. She wanted someone to be the better person and tell her what was going on. She said she would stay out until 6 AM drinking, partying and doing drugs. She had no structure growing up. Your father is gone, he's not only working, but no longer in her life. Your mother is depressed. Your real parents gave you away....what are you to do? She becamse estranged with her father b/c she felt that she had to take care of her mother, so Lionel "felt" he had to step back.
