This sucks

I would be livid if this happened to my chapter. Something similar happened last year to a chapter of Sigma Nus at UCSD.

that is pathetic...
It's sad that (allegedly) another Greek org. pulled that stunt. I agree with the Police chief in the article in that it was probably another group trying to prevent them from getting pledges.
My Greek community is very small, consisting of only 4 fraternities and 4 sororities. Incidents which mirror the one in the article are not uncommon on our campus. Most of the slander happens through word of mouth. For instance, I was told by some very "in-the-know" people that in order to become a member of the Pikes on my campus (which I have since pledged and become a Brother of), one might be forced to do the following:
-Snort cocaine
-Eat a pizza with human feces on it
-Run through the girls' dorms naked
-Blind-folded and taken to a bridge, then pushed off the edge
-Many more that I can't recall
Just for the record, this is not a list of the pledge activities that I took part in. This is what I had heard from others on campus (mostly members of the other fraternities), none of which were even remotely true.
I'm not sure what the competitiveness of Rush there is, but it might certainly have instigated this hoax.

Very sad to see a report in the Media like this as it reflects upon all of us as Greeks!
This once again will make School Adms. wonder if Greeks are a good thing on campus.
No matter what letters are on the front page, it is negative.

Written on the bottom of the crudely crafted invitation were three words that incensed fraternity members: "No Black People."
The flier, with those three words, has placed the 29 members of the local chapter of Delta Chi on the defensive.

hell naw....and people wonder the need for......never mind.

good job, captain obvious.

I don't see this thread being long at all if it stays on subject (unlike other threads). There isn't much contraversial here. The Delta Chis were targetted by someone wanting to cause pre-greek week drama or something to that effect. The Delta Chi house responded in a mature and calculated way by turning these negative events into something positive for the whole campus.
Good for them.

Hi All,
Just for the record, the Delts are Delta Tau Delta -- not Delta Chi.

Stuff like this doesn't hurt a chapter. It hurts the entire Greek system.
In most traditionally white fraternities, it is sometimes especially hard to recruit people from other backgrounds. This sort of stuff doesn't help any group to become more diverse.
