cell phones
I'm so aggrevated! My cell phone bill this month was $125!!! This was because of "peak" minutes and "roaming" i'm with verizon wireless- we aren't supposed to have roaming!!! i freaked out and called the company- the lady was really cool and she took off my roaming charges which were like 38 dollars and I have to upgrade my phone (which i hadn't done since i was in the states in december) but i still have "peak" charges! wtf is that?!
ok- i'm done with my rant- but any of you guys have cell phone problems?? (billing and service etc)

Peak charges are when you use your phone during the day or "peak hours". I'm assuming you get free nights or weekends. It sucks. Cell phone providers are blood suckers.

That's why I have pay as you go.
I don't use my cell phone that often so this is perfect for me.

yea- i wish i could do pay and go- but i'm on my phone constantly because I have to stay in contact with my friends and family- i hardley turn it off either. At school I also use it as my main phone so we don't have to pay for a landline phone... so frustrating though!

You have peak charges because you went over your allotted minutes. If you get, say 600 minutes a month and you actually used 700, you get charged I think its 35 cents a minute for the 100 minutes you went over.

I think most compaines charge more for peak hours. Probably because they are giving you nights and weekends free. They have to make their money some how.
But that doesn't mean they are not evil.

*I got verizon too* If its a separate charge on your bill that says peak, then an amount (its on that chart on the bill that has the number of minutes used for peak, off peak mobile to mobile, etc), then that's the charge for overage minutes, which would have been during peak time, since nights and weekends are unlimited.
Your plan price includes a certain amount of peak minutes, so there's not a "peak charge". When you see a "peak charge" that's for overage. What's your number of plan minutes and what's your number of actually used peak minutes. If the "actually used" number is larger, then they charged you per minute that you went over.
And are you SURE its 69 cents? What kind of plan do you have?

Verizon blows. I got stuck with a Verizon phone for like three years because my dad's company has a contract with them. I just switched to Nextel, finally, and so far it's much better.

I also used to have Verizon & they raped me in extra charges: roaming, "peak" charges, etc. I switched to T-Mobile & never been happier.

Had Sprint for years, the coverage was always awful. Just switched to Cingular and love their rollover minutes, their coverage area is huge -- and I seldom drop calls.
I also like their phones.

We used to have T-Mobile...then my brother complained and complained about the service in his boon-dock school in PA, and then he complained about the service on Long Island.
So my parents switched to Verizon.
And then he got his own phone.
I was very close to suing both Verizon and TMobile. When we changed service, each one kept blaming the other for not releasing/accepting my number. I had to call the FCC and everything.
I have such a love/hate realtionship with cell phones.
Oh yeah, and Cingular is HORRIBLE. Had them a long long time ago. They are SHADY!! And Nextel never works up here because there are too many buildings in the way or something like that.

yeah i have verizon b/c i live in the boondocks outside of the city- and my house is right under a mountain and blocks most towers- but verizon works here and at school which is in the middle of nowhere- so thats why i went with them... its been ok so far- but this is the first time that they've been shady about billing- i'm surprised
birtha blue- i think its 45 cents or something like that- not 69- thats if i go over my 400 minutes (but ihave the america's choice plan- nationwide)
