who said that #3....give up?
this was a toughie...in the late 50s, early 60s, TKE had a CEO
named Richard Russell Hall. Dick was a NM State initiate, was instrumental in staring TKE at USC, along with Woolery, in the
late 40s...Hall, a bear like guy about 6'4" or so, loved to entertain
Greeks, and us fielders would make a bee-line to his house when
in KC. We came armed with huge steaks, much whiskey, and a
voracious appetite for conversation. Dick would get the steaks on
about midnite...we were into power drinking then...and we'd talk
and talk, dream and dream. Hall, a self-considered psychologist,
would end our arguments...with "So Be It," especially when he would lose the argument. We'd joke about that, we'd often recited Logan's "Hitch your wagon" talk, and have voodoo sessions, wishing bad things on competitors and deans...At any
rate, I was so proud of my Lock Haven Colony in PA that I named
it Sigma Beta Iota=So Be It.
Hall is gone now, in the Chapter Eternal, but is very much a part in those halcyon days. R.I.P. Dick, we loved you....
